I have a tendency to think people who use arguments like "We're at one of the coldest times in history right now!" are either missing the point or in denial.
Either way, apples, oranges, so let's all go bananas. |

Oh Jesus.....you didn't just compare what happened over 100million year periods to something which has happened in less than 50 years did you? The fact that it provides no sort of scale whatsoever as well doesn't help you much either.
Global warming is a natural occurrence. Cycles happen, they absolutely do but over a MUCH longer period of time. The way we are impacting the environment is that we're accelerating the natural cycles to unsustainable levels.
Oh my lord, I don't know where to begin....
As for that muppet alt up there, he's a total lost cause. |

two calls out to jesus & the lord! hope everything is ok. where you miss the logic is in two ways. 1.) no right minded scientist would refute what i would put up. clearly i'm looking at this on a much larger scale then 50yrs(which if my math is right is 1/90000000000 of the earths history). even though you're just focusing on the industrial revolution, i'm not. many things over the course of the earths history have shaped ecological dispositions.
Scientists think the Triassic period was so hot because of increidbly high levles of volcanic activity. they think two sea ridges broke and thru that, the beginning of the "ring of fire" was made. volcanos release a lot sulfor dioxide into the air which has a similar green house effect to us burning fossil fules but the whole 'sulfur' part makes it highly toxic.
there's no question in my mind we're shapping how the earth is being treated and effected. however to say that we're putting the earth in a state of emergency isn't that extreme. anywyas you guys would have loved the classes i took on these, highly recommend you take one -- some very interesting topics and debates. |

Your "science" is completely backwards on this one. Volcanic eruption causes cooling. Sulfur dioxide is a criteria pollutant that, when released into the atmosphere, reflects radiation in the solar wavelengths.
It was a good effort at sounding smart, though.
Edit: I also think its hilarious that by posting one graph you feel like youve completely debunked global warming. Like no one has ever seen it before, and no one has ever thought about it. |

i'm just joining a debate :) but grabbing my old text book at as we speak, it reads:
"As for the world-wide affects of volcanic eruptions this only happens when there are large explosive eruptions that throw material into the stratosphere....It seems to depend on the size of the particles (again mostly droplets of sulfuric acid). If they are big then they let sunlight in but don't let heat radiated from the Earth's surface out, and the net result is a warmer Earth (the famous Greenhouse effect)"
thanks for commending my efforts!
edit: yup thats exactly what i did. |

It is, and it wasn't very convincing. Actually, it wasn't convincing at all. |

Fox news... MSN.... CNN... it doesn't matter. The point is global warming is B.S. Nature is going through it's natural cycle. NBC got busted yesterday for showing "global warming" footage at the north pole, with penguines kickin it in the background. Only problem is, penguines only live in the south pole, and NBC got nabbed editing footage to fit their narrative because they had nothing real to fill the slot with. So, they had to retract the video and apologize. They'll all show footage of an ice cap melting, but not the other 18 that are gaining ice volume. The .7 degree in temperature rise that's happened over the last 25 years was erased after this past year. It's the natural cycle of nature. Why should we listen to these ing gas bags like Al Gore (who made a couple hundred million dollars in the last few years on pushing this bull)who aren't sceintists? Who benefits from all this? The same politicians and liberal professors who are finding ways to use global warming to increase taxes, get huge money reasearch grants, control what we do, and profit from it. I'm sure they're laughing all the way to the bank on their private jets while they tell us to use incandescent light bulbs and drive electric cars. Wake up people... common sense must prevail. |
+1
I've never bought into the global warming hype.
and I dont recycle. :nervous: |

Off-topic Fun Fact: Most serious environmentalists (read: not the crazies) don't believe recycling to be worth much of anything at all, and in some cases, arguably more damaging to the environment than it is beneficial.
The only two R's that matter are reduce and reuse. |

It's OK m8 - life is all about people doing stupid and then learning from their mistakes, trying something else thinking it's good, realizing that's also more stupid , learning from that mistake, and trying something else... and on and on.
Vicious cycle, etc. |

This is completely wrong. The only sulfuric greenhouse gas is sulfur hexafluoride (SF6, you can look it up yourself) and there are absolutely no natural sources of it - it is completely man-made.
I appreciate that you're "joining the debate" but just because something is in a book doesn't mean it's Zeus's word. Trust me on this, this stuff is what I do. |
