People in South America would disagree. Just because Europe calls it America doesnt mean its the norm everywhere.

I'm watching the trailer to "Where in the World is Osama Bin laden?" and he says:
"we don't know if he's in a cave with the doors shut or a cave with the door open"

It is not just Europe. I have known people from Chile (I went to school with some), and they call it "America," along with some South African people I know, and Asians.

enough people hated James Buchanan to seperate and form their own country...

also, clovish, i'm not trying to say he's hot or the best thing since sliced bread, i'm just saying that everyone that has been in that office has ed up, one way or another. and who ever is in their for the next election is going to up as well. obviously, giving up golf doesn't really solve any problems, but don't you think he would get even more bad press/PR/etc... if he was shown live on TV waving his hand during the 9th hole with that normal stupid look on his face? (all the while, troops are being shipped overseas)?

also, clovis, you were born in the wrong generation/time frame. you really should have lived in the hippie days of Nixon/Johnson. you're distain for authority/etc... would have been much more satisfying to you if you were marching/protesting through the streets, with a joint in one hand, and a picket in the other that says "free love" or "peace" :toocool:

The point of this thread is not "look how bad out president has ed up," it's "look at what a complete idiot our president is."

There's a big difference. You can up and be fairly intelligent. Or you can up and be an imbecile. It's funnier when you're an imbecile!

Wow, I think you missed the point pretty profoundly. It doesn't tick you off that the President sends troops off to fight a meaningless war and thinks he's made his amends for it by giving up a hobby?

put yourself in an authority figures' place: you've "declared war" and now you've got two choices:

1) be seen on TV/Newspaper/etc... playing golf or
2) be seen on TV/Newspaper/etc... talking to the citizens.

either way you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't. obviously the initial "mistake" was "Declaring war" to begin with...but you simply can't do one thing one day, and then the following week say, "oh , my bad" and call everyone back.

Giving up a hobby is not a sacrifice in the least bit. That is the point he made.

:wtf:

Did you compare Nixon and Johnson?

When he left office, Johnson had a 50% approval rating. Nothing grandiose, but that's what he had coming to him for pushing through the most controversial piece of legislation in American history (the Civil Rights Act).

Nixon, after resignation, had a 24%. Before resigning it had been a full 25 points higher (49%). I should remind you that Nixon's numbers dropped because he did something obviously illegal.

Bush's numbers? Well, in February the American Research Group clocked him at a whopping 19% (all-time low). So yeah, sometimes I wish I lived in those days as well.
