So this is my latest promo mix (i.e. not for radio or for the sake of ing around ;)), and also my artist mix for AMP this year. No dicking around this time, just straight up drummy, loopy, repetitive techno and tech house with just the one classic to close it out. There are definitely a couple dodgy mixes in this one - but I thought everything was phrased alright and that they recovered, so we'll see.
Massive thanks to those of you around here who are a big part of keeping me so motivated to do this stuff particularly Myra, Tom, Adam, Clovis, Bas, Tony, Sushi, Bobby, Az, Jake, Mathias, Jeff, and the rest of those of you whom I'm either too stoned or lazy to remember at the moment.
:p
Definitely want to send special thanks on this one, however, to Clovis and d-miurge for keeping me inspired this week - I hope the both of you enjoy it.

Damn Rob, you're churning these out fast... I'm in!
EDIT: #10 :eyes: :eyes: I can't wait to hear what you've done with Karu - Maraud Your Ears (Tim Paris We Almost Lost Detroit Mix). So damn tricky, that particular track. |

Yeah - I was really just cocking around on the decks earlier today trying to get an idea, so I figured that one wouldn't last. It was just one of those sets where you have a lot of fun playing it, but when you listen to the recording you realize "OK, programmings on - but meh, this was probably more of a 'fun in the moment' set than anything else."
cmay - I've actually had to get the last two done by deadlines, usually I don't like to get so much up at once. If I had one thing to say it's that the last (Frisky) set was really a "radio" set - not much of a promo mix, at least I didn't treat it as such. I definitely put a lot of work into making this one come together, and I think in general, I'm much more pleased with this (on the same level as "Sounds like Robots" and "Return to the Outside") than most others.
Also, RE: the "Maraud Your Ears" edit - remember the SOS balance thread and that I'm telling you the words "training wheels" probably say it all in retrospect. :p
Thanks for the downloads guys - hope you enjoy it. :)
Edit: Also, props to Vana and Clovis for making me listen to Art Bleek. |

Oh, I was not aware that you had deadlines for these mixes. Just started listening to this one. Enjoying what I hear so far, will let you know what I thought after I'm done. |

Lol, I didn't mean to make it sound like I had a lot of them - it's just an odd month, and the Frisky set had to be done by the beginning, and AMP is relaunching their website on Friday, so they were kind of pushing me to have it ready by then as I'm doing the featured artist deal for them in June.

Thanks boss - but to be fair, there are a lot of people on this forum who deserve a lot more than they get. I'm grateful even a few folks put me in the same league as some of the other fellows on here. |

Yeah, I'm realizing the amount of talent on this board lately. About a year ago, I started to change my preconceptions that 'bedroom' or 'not-so-famous' DJs could not compare to the big names. It's stupid, I know, and I kick myself every single day for not tuning in sooner, but I think we all go through this stupid 'OMG PVD IS GOD!!!' phase, when first listening to electronic music.
That being said, I've downloaded sets by a bunch of TAs, including: you, Myra, Clovis, Bas, cmay, Allied Nations, DJ Metatron, and a few others that constantly put up quality mixes and work really hard at what they love. Actually, I feel privileged to be a part of TA and have a chance to discuss music (and sometimes even flying penises and buttseckz :haha: ) with all these artists. |
