lol sweet.

And Lionslair, I was genuinely curious. I don't know any PS3 specific titles as I don't follow the progress of that system. I gave up on Sony after the PS2. Any company that still manufactures 2 player only consoles in a world where everyone is making 4+ player games is just plain ignorant.

Ok pkc, you've officially crushed any hope I had for you with this one.
Do you know what type of games Harmonix make? They make games that even Wii could run circles around. Rock Band. The guy is a joke, and if you want to pull these type of articles out, I can pull out dozens of articles and videos that speak about the PS3's strengths. But that would get boring because its more hypothetical, I rather have you guys show me direct examples, instead of these paid off testimonials from a developer who has no technical skills like Harmonix. Scrolling flashing buttons up and down a screen with a poorly animated band in the background isnt the developer I would be looking for an opinion on technical prowess of hardware. Too Funny.

haha just because the game isn't graphically intense doesn't mean the programming is any different :stongue:

oh, i see. you know more about systems than those that write the code for said system. gotcha.

I already told him you're not allowed to give yourself points.

Kojima says MGS4 maxes out the PS3...and he is disappointed

excerpt:

Looks like Kojima Jr. isn't the only one disappointed with Metal Gear Solid. The latest issue of the UK's Edge magazine contains an interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who expresses disappointment with the latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It isn't so much the gameplay itself as it is the graphics.

"Game-wise, it's pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly. But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction."

Now Kojima is a well-known perfectionist, but it is a bit disturbing to see him voice his dissatisfaction with what is supposed to be the masterpiece of the franchise. So where does he lay the blame for not fully realizing his vision?

"When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one step, which isn't to say we didn't progress."

So there was certainly progress made, but not enough progress...or more specifically, not enough power for progress. Apparently the team overestimated what the PlayStation 3 was capable of.

"I remember saying three years ago that we wanted to create something revolutionary, but in reality we couldn't really do that because of the CPU. We're using the Cell engine to its limit, actually. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the PS3 machine, it's just that we weren't really aware of what the full-spec PS3 offered - we were creating something we couldn't entirely see."

This man has consistently pushed Sony gaming platforms to their limit, using every ounce of power in the PS1 and PS2 for the Metal Gear Games, and is now doing the same with MGS4 for the PS3.

So that's the BEST? lol...Don't get me wrong, the game looks very good, but it is far from breathtaking.. COD4 on maximum settings looks just as good, and I can play it maxed out on my $160 8800GT. ;)

PC Alliance Soldier...the entirety of that was debunked 2 weeks ago by Kojima himself. He said he was humble and his words were taken out of context by the western media. Also that he was very happy with the game and the PS3, and he said MGS 4 will be one of the greatest games.

Here's your ownage on a plate.

He said he was very happy with the GAME, yes indeed. Some people took his comments to mean the game wasn't going to be enjoyable and he wanted to debunk this because the game itself is going to kick ass. What he said about the limited PS3 processing power stands however. He made very clear that he is maxing out the cell chip with MGS4. There's no way around it.

Lets say your fabrication of what his intentions were true, even that doesnt mean the PS3 is a weak hardware. Kojima's visions of the game he wants to create are well above any hardware, and we can easily interpret that to include the PC for quite a while as well. Anyhow, the media spun what he said, and idiots like you bought it. Still none of you PCF's can show me the games that look better than PS3 exclusives.

i hope youre enjoying your humble pie there lionslair. hahaha. CPU just not cutting the mustard :stongue:
