I'm sorry to hear about Codie :(
It feels terrible losing a pet whose been in your life so long. I recently had to put my collie to sleep after being nearly 16 years old. It hurts, I hope you feel better. |

She was a lovely dog... RIP. :(
I can't imagine my dog being in pain, simply don't know how would I bear with that...
Luckily, he's only 3.5 years old and very strong and healthy, so I guess he has at least another 10 years in front of him. :)

You've obviously never owned a pet. |

thanks for the words, everyone.
i called the cremation place today....i'm getting two bags of ashes (one for me, and one for the other owner, who is still deployed overseas...yes, Stren you were right...i technically got her from someone else, but jst for foster care...thing is, the guy's assignments kept getting extended or something [the lady never really told me much info]...so they both kind of agreed that i could keep her for as long as i wanted).
and i'm also getting her paw-print done too...they make a plaster of paris, push her paw print into it, sign her name in it, and then bake it into a solid concrete-like finish.
i'm definitely going to get some pictures of her i took developed and printed onto nice paper and frame them.
last night was rough...not a lot of sleep. but i did have a nice dream of seeing her dancing on her hind legs like snoopy did in the peanuts cartoons...and it made me feel better to see her happy, even if it was just a dream.
i still haven't touched any of her stuff yet...her food/water dishes still have stuff in them...and her coller is still on my kitchen table where i left it last night. ugh.
poor dog, she was so sweet |

| I can still remember the day my dog died in third grade. The worst day of my life. I feel for you man. Just know that you made the last chapter of her life a very happy one. |

| I haven't had a dog since I was around 8 or so, but one of my good friends parents had 2 dogs since I have known him. Then a few years ago, they had to put one of them down. The place felt, and still feels, empty without her. I knew this guy since I was like 13. So not having this dog around was really weird. Hit close for me since he has been a really good friend of mine for so long. My condolences go out to you Will. :( |

Really sorry to hear about this. :(
I don't think people who don't see that pets can be every bit as valuable to someone as a friend or family member could ever see past their own ego. Humans are animals just as well as any other creature - differences set us apart, but something indescribable tells us we are really not truly different in any universal sense. Dog heaven does seem a bit far-_fetched_ though. Get it? fetch? No? no? no.
Ok, enough out of me.
Sorry for your loss. Life is loss, etc, etc |
