I used Live 7 now.. ever since i switched to Mac. For me, this is the most intuitive DAW i have used so far.
I used to use cubase on windows but i didnt like the workflow non the midi assignment.
Like others mentioned, each DAW has is own merits... Logic has some really good internalise plugins...which are of some use... so im learning a bit of logic now as well.
Reason is also cool cos its so pretty but i havent had the time to look at it yet...
Protools is over rated imo... but its the industry standard when it comes to recording |

Thought I'd check the last page of this thread to see if this deteriorated into a DAW flame war, LOL. Well I see it didn't so that's good.
Wow, a lot of you use Ableton. I haven't even tried the demo yet. Sounds as if it doesn't have good vsti support, so I'll just stick with FL for now. |

Naw, ProTools isn't overrated, it just isn't designed with the home studio electronica producer in mind. |

Yeah, thats true, but even a lot of pro studios run logic or MOTU as a front end to pro tools, so they never have to deal with its awful interface;) So its not really the industry standard either. |

Head over to gearslutz. :) Seems like 90% of the recording guys there use logic! Maybe even a logic and PT combo.
I tried PT m powered, and I thought it was really good for audio. But as soon as I started messing with midi, the truth revealed itself.
PT is excellent with audio, but it's midi handling is f****ng horrible imo.
And what about no automatic plugin delay compensation? That's just too bad! |

What gave you that idea? Any vst i ever loaded in Live did so without any problems :conf:
I wish Ableton would fix that stupid 128 automation paramter limit also, maybe have a detachable midi editing window (piano roll) like Cubase
Ive tried FL, Reason, Cubase, not logic tho cos im on pc, but Live was the first one i was really comfortable with and could get stuff done quickly in - also its nice for doin the odd mix |

Glad to see FL ranking in second place.
I love everything about FL, think people who bitch about its selective dual core support need to learn how to render and not whore out fx.
My only issue with FL is out of the hundreds of free and relatively few commercial vst's I have on it, only about 70% actually work. |

I use Ableton + Reason via Rewire, is a great combo, really... since Live natively don't offer almost any feature talking about of creating sounds and lacks of useful library, Is then when Reason comes.
Live gives everything that Reason can't. Elastic audio as has been said before, that is very useful when working specially with vocals or one shot samples. Of course the VST's support, but I actually don't use any, just for mastering and analytics proposes.
I'm happy with the integrated Synths of Reason... and editing bars is pretty simple, just like resizing an image lol. Something that seems painful in live.
So... my conclusion.
>Reason: Beat creation, synth creation.
>Live: Samples, VST's, Time stretching.

belgium's pride... too bad it's windows only, and quite unstable in parallels desktop. Besides that, I quite like what I've tested so far.
