wow, theres nothing like being beat with a predictability stick
he denies the Holocaust and claims there are no homosexuals in his country.
his country has the 4th largest proven oil reserves in the flippin world but they have to import most of their gasoline...and they spend more than a 1/3 of their entire economy subsidizing it to their own people!

you see this newspaper, >LINK< called Tehran Today. well, today they got shut down >LINK< why? because the editor published criticisms of Ahmedinawhakjob.
...oh and this mornings front page of Tehran Today's website is an article about the country's first all female city park. a quiet restfull place (guarded by males of course) where Persian women young and old can take off their hijabs without fear of being arrested. awesome place if you ask me.
please fail somewhere else. |
I didn't say he was a good politician. He actually sucks, but comparing intelligence, he brings up good points many times.
One point was that in history we always come with conclusions but usually rebuff it with a new conclusion. Nothing is ever closed. Why is the holocaust cause closed and why is it we get persecuted for pursuing it? There is something false about it. The Jews obviously died from the hands of Hitler, but the numbers are exaggerated.
That is one point he brought up, and rightly true.
When talking at Columbia University, he didn't even read off pre-written notes and he pulled it off very smartly, putting aside the denials. George Bush would have failed to even come close to the comebacks and the responses this guy threw at.
When he denied there was no gays, he was smirking (as in, i'm the biggest smartarse there is), so you can't possibly have taken that seriously.
Let's talk about threats that Iran have offered to Israel, in which most have been beefed up lies (starting from "wiped off the map", to "Israel will disappear"), so what do you call this threat from Israel to Iran?
"An Iranian attack against Israel would trigger a tough reaction that would lead to the destruction of the Iranian nation," said National Infrastructure Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer.
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM...Wq4QWMJe-bS2u8w
Now this threat directed at the Iranian nation itself. Could i translate this to Israel wants to wipe Iran off the map? It is a more direct comment than "wiping the regime from the pages of history" made by Ahmadinjad which the neocons translated back to "wiped off the map" |

a friend went to Iran recently, he said its one of the most beautiful countries on earth, the percentage of women registered in university is 60% (40% men) so its not some backwards misoginistic country that the western media likes to portray it as. still, Ameninanjadsdsad is pretty ed.

i think people have a tendency to forget these "slights" because the US has become symbolic of everything that is wrong with the world.
i have had a long interest in gender politics and whilst i certainly hold no ill will to the iranian people (quite the opposite), i find their justice and political systems to be in need of an overhaul. i just wanna make sure that hippies like tathi don't forget that :p |

| PKC What exactly do you think is the solution to the current regime in Iran? more sanctions on them? me and you both know that sanctions will only hurt the people and not the regime and infact it is making life very difficult for the people as we speak.I really think the issue's with Iran cannot be solved by anyone but the Iranian people themselves. |

i think the best we can do is to promote free trade and free ideas in the hope that the growing middle class becomes a potent political threat to religious influence. kind of similar to how the land owning class usurpsed the european monarchies.
inflammatory rhetoric from the west will do nothing but marginalise moderates in iran and elsewhere. |

I completly agree.Ive always believed that the change will come within Iran and not the other way around. The west needs to underestand that. The Iranians are very capable of making changes by themselves and those changes may not be ideal to the west but either way they need to respect the people. |

| having said that though; should someone produce proof that iran is enriching iranium to levels suitable for use in weapons, then i favour bombing their facilities. |
