I'm definitely thinking of Ritual of Life and I mean what I say without irony. I have a term for this kind of track- Ethnic Theft Collage. I know Vath, like all the other exponents of ETC, was aiming for that spiritual, timeless, universal sound. It couldn't be more obvious if he had spoken his intentions on the track.
There are other tracks that do the same thing and I like them- Sasha's Qat trilogy being the most notable example. The difference is that the Qat tracks are still great without the "ethnic" bits, where as Ritual Of Life is little more than a collection of detached cultural skin scrapings pasted over each other. |

Anyway, isn't it kinda sad when you hear about people listening to nothing but epic trance for 5-10 years? Some of them still hang out here, and their tastes have gone nowhere. And if they have, their progression matches that of club music trends to a tee.
I find it hard to respect these people as human beings. :( |
