Ha-ha! :haha: This forum is the best. I love how my "Moving to Atlanta" thread has now covered so many topics (i.e. cheap sushi, best American DJ, etc.).
I've seen George Acosta play before and own a few of his CDs (Miami, History of Trance). He's definitely not my favorite DJ but I'm just looking forward to hearing some good ol' fashion trance in a club atmosphere. I was living in Statesboro, Georgia for the past year so I haven't been to a good club or seen a reputable DJ in some time. I'm loving the fact that I can walk to Opera (or WetBar) and see any DJ that comes to town.
I think there are a few DJs that haven't come to Atlanta yet this year that I would really like to see. Two of those DJs are Markus Schulz and Sander Van Doorn. I've been downloading a lot of their live sets recently and I can't get enough. Also, even though I've seen Oakenfold more times than I can count, and I think we can all agree that he's not the DJ he once was, I still always have fun at his shows.
I haven't bought tickets for Acosta yet but probably will tomorrow. I hope to see some of you there. If no one's going to Acosta, we'll hopefully be @ the Deadmau5 show on Aug. 8.

No, unfortunately that is not my set-up. However, that is the picture I used to build my DJ booth. My booth is almost exactly the same except I painted it dark gray. I have the turntables but no CD players... yet. I'm also looking into upgrading my mixer. I'm probably going to go with the Behringer DDM-4000 because of its cost (under $400) and good reviews. I also already built the DJ booth so that the Behringer DDM-4000 should fit exactly into where the mixer will sit. Also, instead of the crazy expensive Pioneer CD players I may buy the Denon DN-S3500 CD players. I've used them before and really liked them. Unfortunately, none of this can happen until I find a job. I don't feel comfortable buying DJ equipment with no income. :sadgreen:
However, once the set-up is complete it could make for a sweet pre-game/after-hours spot @ 900 Peachtree. :crazy:

Just as a rule of thumb, dont go for the behringer products. Time and time again their unreliability is a discussion in these forums.
save some more and get a xone 32 or something... Trust me, you do not want to get stuck with a ty mixer (i am :()

I've never had any problems with the reliability of my Behringer DJX700, but the sound quality between it and the higher end mixers (Pio1000/Xone Series) is the difference between iPod earbuds and Sony MDRV700.

I agree, Behringer doesn't produce the best DJ equipment. I would love to have a Pioneer mixer & CD players. I just can't see myself dropping thousands of dollars for a home set-up. I've read some really good reviews regarding the Behringer DDM-4000 and I'm hoping it will be good enough for my apartment. If I could play somewhere as loud as I wanted, I would go all out. I'll be checking eBay & Craigslist for decent prices on high-end equipment. Maybe I'll find a good deal.
My girlfriend and I have decided to pass on George Acosta this Thursday. We have some friends coming to visit next weekend and I'm buying us tickets to Deadmau5 instead. See you there. I can't wait. :tongue3
