i'm going to have to disagree with you on this one chinamon....it's a reality that people use drugs..but responsible use and making informed decision on what you ingest..how much...the combination of narcotics..is an issue..the death could have been prevented not only by the people around her....but it could also have been prevented if she had helped herself to begin with...

this is all assuming she took the drugs voluntarily..

How do we know her friends "left her to die"? Maybe they parted ways before the OD. Maybe she collapsed and died quickly after that. To say "she was left to die at the back of a club" is a cop giving a sound bite.

While this may be true, and the way it's worded makes it seem like the police are blaming the people she was with...I doubt that not a single person at the bar around her missed her passed out wherever she was situated. If I saw someone passed out, or looking like they needed help I would have alerted security...and have in fact done this before.

Even if she did do drugs voluntarily it's not necessarily an informed decision on how much she took or what combination of drugs she took. Perhaps she tried a certain type of drug for the first time (e.g. took a single pill) and she had some sort of reaction to what was in it, not knowing that this was going to happen. Perhaps she had taken pills before, and again only took one, but again, this time had a reaction to what was in it (since it's not always the same). The dangerous thing with drugs, is that you can't really be "responsible" b/c you never really fully know what could happen.

I can't believe this happened at Rio. It was formerly called Viva and I spent many a night there for some sick trance events. It was quite sketchy with waves of asians who were really high and came out with their families and stuff (some seriously old people, higher concentration than Guv which is expected because it's GTA north) but haven't seen the new set-up with Rio.

I've been wanting to check it out with the new lineups that have been coming up but with a story like this, where normal rounds from the bouncers who conduct walk arounds all the time did not detect this girl, the sketch factor just went up 10 times for me :(

I've been to Viva many times through the years, and yeah I'm not surprised that this would happen. Everytime I go, there's a bunch of people sitting around, past out or sleeping. Everyone just minds their own business really, cause in there if you stare at the wrong people they start crap with you for no reason.

This is sad but i have to wonder how many people have alcohol issues in any given night. The media is definately more a disturber than an information source thats for sure.

ANd the way they wrote it makes it seem like the club was totally negligent when im sure the first action the staff took when this person was discovered was to call an ambulance.

Yellow journalism at it's finest

It's either "injected" or "ingested". Make up your mind, guys.
