Bored at the moment...thought I'd bump this one as its that time again. :toothless
I think I've seen all the major movies that have come out so far this Summer season (minus the cartoon stuff)...
In order from worst to best...
Year One - pretty stupid, but not horrendously bad. As I read in one of the reviews for the movie, if you find the previews funny, you'll probably enjoy it. If not, stay away. 3.5/10
Transformers 2 - Way too damn long. The action sequences and CGI are second to none, but after 2.5 hours it starts to get tedious to watch. 4/10
Terminator: Salvation - Biggest letdown of the Summer for me. I actually really liked the first half of the movie, but thought it totally fell apart towards the end. I have since rewatched 1 & 2 and 'Salvation' isn't even close to being in the same league. 4/10
The Proposal - Not bad as far as cute, romantic comedies go. Certainly not one of Bullock's best, but definitely watchable. 5/10
Angels and Deamons - Eh, not great, not bad though either. Never read any of the books. I actually liked this better than The Davinci Code though. 6/10
Public Enemies - Just saw this one this past weekend and was really dissapointed. I was expecting much more, especially from a movie co-starring Christian Bale and Johnny Depp. It picked up towards the end, but the first hour or so just dragged on. Worth a watch though I guess. 6/10
Taking of Pelham 123 - This one pleasantly surprised me this summer. The trailer was sort of unimpressive, but I heard the original was dynamite, so I saw it on whim. Absolutely loved it. Both Denzel and Travolta turned in some solid performances. I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it, but the last 10-15 minutes got a little silly. Still a great movie though. 7/10
The Hangover - I don't think I've run into anyone this summer who hasn't seen it. ing hysterical. 8.5/10
Drag Me to Hell - Directed by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead trilogy). Minus the movie below, this was my favorite of the summer, and quite possibly the best horror movie I've seen in the last 5 years. As with all of Raimi's movies, it perfectly combines legitimate scares with some great comedy. Don't base it's potential on the previews, as they don't do the movie justice. 9/10
Star Trek - The perfect Summer movie. 10/10 |

| i saw public enemies as well, but i actually enjoyed it. i agree that it seemed to be a bit too slow up until the middle, but i think this had something to do with the entire movie being shot in hd video instead of on film. the movement just doesn't seem real enough being completely digital. 8/10 overall and 6/10 on editing. |

| I gave it a 6/10. The first half just dragged and dragged. I agree about the digital filming of the movie too. Certain movies benefit from that look, but you would think a period movie like Public Enemies would look a lot better on actual film. |

I have seen all of the same movies as Zack this summer but have a slightly different opinion on some of them...
Year One - I can't for the life of me figure out if Michael Cera is just that talented or if in real life he is just a complete goofball. He is the only reason worth seeing this movie in my opinion.
Transformers 2 - Ugh, where do I even begin! I think when it comes down to it I enjoyed Year One more than this movie. I don't know if it was a good or bad thing that the cashier told us the movie was 2 hrs 45 mins long before going in, but before hitting the 2 hr mark I checked my watch and was pretty devastated I had to sit there for another 50 or so minutes. CGI, great but everything else horrible. We all get that Megan Fox is hot but could they have maybe given her some lines to work with or something. Her part was about as deep as any chick in a horror film, run...dive...look hot...repeat.
Terminator Salvation - I'm not as big a Terminator fan as maybe Zack is so I definitely had a different opinion on this one. It wasn't amazing and parts were somewhat slow, but I really thought the guy who played Marcus Wright was impressive and not bad on the eyes either lol. The story was there but the path they chose to go down in certain parts like the last 25 minutes could have been better, not as cheesy. Definitely better than the last Terminator in my opinion!!
The Proposal - Feel like I've seen this movie before...While You Were Sleeping ring a bell, but nowhere near as good as that one. Bullock and Reynolds play their typical roles and as usual are pretty hard not to like but the plot just seemed worn out.
Public Enemies - I really liked the theme song and Marion Coutillard and that's about it for this movie. Seemed like they couldn't figure out which direction to go in and decided on a middle ground between a gangster movie and a love story. They should have committed to one, it would have been far better had they done so.
Angels and Demons - Definitely entertaining but I liked the Davinci Code better.
ok so the next 4 clearly top the list...
Taking of Pelham 123 - These actors are so seasoned I would have been surprised if this went sour. I personally really favored Denzel in this but John Travolta did a great job as well. Just a solid movie all around.
The Hangover - pretty sure this is a rite of passage at this point.
I think I am tied for best movie of the summer so far. As much as I liked Star Trek, I really loved Drag Me to Hell! Even if you don't like horror movies, chances are you will still like Drag Me to Hell and if you do like horror movies this movie will probably bring a tear to your eye.
Star Trek was pretty amazing as well, they really did a fantastic job casting this one! I would like to see this one again before the end of the summer.
Next stop Bruno! Probably gonna see it this weekend. I'm sure it will be hilarious and inappropriate but nothing will top watching Borat next to a 75 year old couple! |

maybe i'm the only one but the hangover was funny but not great. more of a 3 or 3.5 out of 5, people compared it to old school which isn't a fair comparison.
i'm hoping the movie of the summer for me is bruno, he is by far my favorite character from the ali g show. |

I read a couple pessimistic reviews that basically said a lot of the situations, especially those with famous people, seem to be staged. We'll see though. The previous look amazing. |

Just saw The Hurt Locker last night: would give it a 8/10 all around
Worth seeing in a theater, but there were some pacing issues as times which never quite brought things to a different level. I would think this is one of the most accurate portrayals of Iraq though, and the movie did a good job of bringing you there. |

I'm a huge T2 fan (the soundtrack was actually the first cd I ever bought), so I actually enjoyed this one at times. It wasn't very good per se, but I honestly wasn't expecting much (especially after T3 ugh) and it was just plain cool to watch the future war with hunter / killers flying around etc... for what it is, I thought it was a fun time - 6.5/10 from me! |

apparently was extremely inaccurate in relation to technology and military procedures...but still it was thoroughly entertaining and intense |
