did someone say Incognito party? If so, I'm there :)

looks like I was wrong?

And BTW, don't ever compare Pink Floyd to James Holden.

If you want a better comparison, it's like people who go still see BT because he's consider the (god)father of trance to some. :p

It's like someone saying Pink Floyd hasn't done much lately but people are still living on nostalgia.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Lets revisit this when Holden has written the 3rd top selling album OF ALL TIME.

Or when he creates a concept album that captures generation after generation, remaining relevant 30 years after it was written and also in the top 20 selling albums of all time.

What a poor comparison brotha!

P.S. Ive got tickets to the return of THE WALL in May at both SD and the colisium! Gonna see it for the 3rd and 4th time!

P.S.S. I love eclectic music, but holden is extremely boring

I'm not talking about sales. I'm talking about still liking an artist even though they're dormant.

You're trying to say people that still listen to James are nostalgic. People still listening to Pink Floyd are nostalgic too.

But fine! I'm sorry for using Pink Floyd as an example.

He released a DJ Kicks Mix album in 2010 to much critical acclaim

He is also in the studio now producing and it will be an new album release party when he plays for us.

He doesnt spin prog or trance anymore, maybe that's why you don't care much ado about him.

Its ok:happy2:

But yea, I didnt make the claim regarding nostalgia myself. I was just making the point that fans of pink floyd may have a slightly better reason to continue to listen to the floyd due to the bands immense impact over generations, something Holden hasnt come close to accomplishing. Also, there is a new generation of pink floyd fans hearing their music for the first time so although it was written decades ago, its still new to them. Further, new technology enables modified tours such as the new "The Wall" somewhat reinventing a timeless classic.

I think EDM is a different beast altogether in the sense that it thrives on the cutting edge. Thats why genres and DJs that fail to continue to progress tend to fall behind.

While Balance 005 and At The Controls are possibly 2 of the best EDM albums off all time... Holden's current music style is more intriguing than ever (imo). From the stuff he plays, edits, remixes, to the stuff he releases on his label. Anyone who doesn't like Holden's current style of music and say his fans are in "nostalgia" are, in fact, in nostalgia themselves... for you are not open minded about new styles of music.

Recent remix of Holden that is great:

Some recent recording of Holden at some place live:

Another great remix:

An example of a great track released on his label by one of his artists:

Oh ya... Gerard & Alan:

The last 2 times you booked James Holden, you booked him on Labor Day weekend or Burning Man weekend. I strongly suggest you don't do that again. Please book him on a different weekend, so that the people who missed him the last 2 times can make it this time. :)

IMO people need to work their schedules around James Holden.
