it became quite obvious that james holden's music was not made for hollywood megaclubs. he's an underground dj who plays underground music. underground music rarely works out well in megaclubs because the crowd only has an ear for the mainstream/pop sounds. keep the underground music at the underground venues--it works out better for the whole scene that way. |

I was gonna bring that up. It was his first time in LA. I picked him up from the airport. It was pouring rain that night so the trip was a little exciting. I went to drop him off at the Roosevelt and all the streets were closed to get in due to the Oscars, so I had to drop him off down the street in the rain. He didn't care one bit. Thought it was funny and just ask if I could bring his records to the club for him. He was just a really laid back stoner kid then :) I know he's opened up since. Was interesting to talk to him about how he came to fame.
We definitely need to get him back here.
...back here. Sometimes I forget I'm in Phoenix :) Maybe if he comes to LA Dave can get him at the new Giant Wed in Phoenix. It's a much shorter trip to the airport for me here. And it hardly ever rains :D |
