This is an offshoot of the other thread. I like the Canadian tire card for the cheap gas (8 cents off) and no annual fee.
Let's hear what you guys use.
BTW for airline points i use Starwood MBNA Mastercard. You get one starwood point for every 2 dollars spent. No annual fee (which is important) but here is the best part.
5000 bonus after first purchase
5000 bonus when you stay at a starwood hotel (Sheraton, westin etc)
5000 bonus everytime you spend 10K in a calendar year (this makes your actual value 1:1)
And the best part of all.
You can transfer your points to most major airlines point programs at 1:1 AND STARWOOD WILL THROW IN A BONUS 5000 POINTS IF YOU TRANSFER 20,000 POINTS AT A SINGLE TIME!!! Of course Aeroplan is the exception to this rule but aeroplan sucks anyways.
So i get all the best features of an aeroplan or american airlines credit card (even more with the bonusses) without the BS annual fees of 120 bucks or more!
It's good mang!! |

1st time but you also get 1:1 when you charge the hotel to your card as well as the regular 2 for 1 points that they give out when you stay there |

TD travel rewards for me
mind you, theres a 120 dollar fee for it.
but being able to redeem points towards travel is much easier than other cards (apparently).
just book it, then call td and tell them to redeem the points towards whatever purchase you wanted. no blackouts, restricted times, etc etc.... |

At $120 per year youve probably paid for the flight and then some by the time you cash in your points.
I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would pay an annual fee for a credit card. |

i use my Canadian Tire Options MasterCard for all my purchases
1% of all purchases == CT Money
then I get 17% off all my purchases at CT stores (perks for working for CT Financial!)
Mb i should look into that Points card you mentioned....i use CC's for everything i buy...then I of course pay it off at the end of the month... I plan on traveling the coming yrs... |

I LOVE my TD Gold Elite Visa. I believe the annual fee is something similar to the Travel card that Dave has b/c they keep asking if I want to switch - but I don't travel enough to make it worth my while. I like the 1% back b/c I use my VISA as if it's my debit card (and only spend the money if I have it!) My fee is waived though b/c of the TD Select Service Account I have and the fact that I keep the minimum monthly balance required to get perks.

Oooh, and when I buy gas at Shell, I use my Mosiak Mastercard b/c I get double the airmiles points or something like that. Generally, my Mastercard is only for emergency purposes b/c it only gives me .5% back on every dollar I spend. |

Yes the select service account lets you do all of that for free... gee sounds like a great deal but only if you keep a minimum balance of $5000. Haha. Ofcourse they would offer you all those perks, they have 5000 of your money making money for them. The minute your account dips below 5000 they slap you with a 24.95 monthly service charge. As for the 1% cash back its really nothing to write home about especially when American Express Gold is offering 2% (with no annual fee). |
