most artists don't permit audio/video recording of performances subject to big fines in their contracts, whether or not you have permission from a venue or just snuck in a camera phone unbeknown to the club (and i've seen people kicked out at concerts for that), if it said no recording on the door and you didn't get it signed off on you don't have anything to stand on.
in the event the management had given written agreement to a specific venue or press recording, usually they only allow it on condition that they have equal rights on footage and more often than not (unless a major tv channel) it's for promo only, not for sale.
even if the club did give you permission and they even got written permission you still probably have to surrender any material, if one or both of these were not given then you have no real rights as far as i understand the situation. just request credits. |

As long as you produce good material, they are always willing to pay money,as we pay money to listen his music... Since, he is a public figure, as for editorial usage, you wouldn't need permission or written release form from him.. So, do you think that you can't charge money and ask for credit because footage is piece of crap? Then, try to be a good and charge money... Whether you charge money or not, they should use the name of author always...
peace.... |

I remember when you used to be funny.
Look, if I just finished dropping wolf bait and some guy came along and asked to use the loaf for promoting ex-lax, I would want a goddamn credit in the commercial saying that this healthy nug nug came from yours truly.
It's a simple principle - you want to use something another person made, you either pay or credit them. Doesn't matter how much or how little effort went into it, or how common or rare or good or bad it really is. Everything is worth something to someone. |

Why would they, if they could just get something else for free?

Lots of big DJs hire people to take footage of their gigs.
I myself have hired people to take photos and video at events for DJs Ive worked with.
They will pay if it's QUALITY footage. |

fines? lol
any contract between the club and the artist has nothing to do with the dude and his video. that doesn't does even make sense. lmao |

Seems fair...
And I bet you they just want your footage because of the hi-quality res you filmed it in so they can chop it up, add pans, fades, swipes, effects and dub over some track and make it all crazy and ... but the wouldn't be able to that with your standard 320x240 digi cam videos floating around... |

| They'll make it look more exciting than what I did to it! The origional is in full HD 1920x1080, surround sound... so I'm sure they'll be happy with that too. They only thing I see is the video from their site is small so I wonder what they'll end up doing with mine. |

| So it turns out that Lawler's ppl will allow credit to appear on the video! I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it's there when the video goes live on Lawler's site. |

Did you end up asking for/getting anything else? |
