Longevity, decor, experience, parties... it is a world class experience. It truly is a super club... so of their practices may not be to peoples liking but they are still a business out to make money.

+1

Guv has been around for 10 years and Charles continues to try and make it fresh and new. In terms of a venue it is most definetly world class and as I said it should be in the top 10. Guv still brings in the DJ's, and puts on great events. While I haven't been to a big event at Guv in a long time you always have the chance of being wowed and having an experience everytime you go there (like everyone told me when there were at Guv 10 year).

You know I totally agree with you on Berghain. There really is no comparison for me to any other club I have been to. However, to dismiss Guv the way you are I think is very short sighted. I didn't have the greatest time at Pacha Ibiza - I left after about 2 hours cause Sander sucked ass and the crowd was awful. However, it is a great club, its just not for me.

You may not have had a good time when you have been to Guv. You may have hated the crowd, the heat, the over crowdedness and yes Mark Oliver. But if you step back and look at the club itself (the venue, lights, sound (yes it can be better), the dj booth, etc. and you compare it to the other clubs you can't say it isn't in the top 10.

I would also put Tresor a lot higher on the list as well. The two times I have been there the place wasn't crowded and there was no one special there. But, the club itself is most definetly an experience and I could just imagine how great of a time I would have there if Richie, Sven etc. was playing there.

The weirdest is walking up a ty dirt road towards Amnesia. They have some ty double decker bus outside and it looks like a barn. When I first went there I was so confused.

Then you get in and its mayham.

I've been to Fabric and think that the Guv is a far better club. Better lighting, sound, design. Not that I had a bad time at Fabric, I actually loved it as the music was great, but I do think that Guvernment is a world-class club.

I cant help but disagree, while i do think Guv deserves a higher spot I would never say it was better then fabric. I found the sound and lighting far superior. The Guv has more space, but i wouldent call it a better design, maybe im just a sucker for the 'underground catacombs' type feel you get from fabric, instead of the renovated warehouse feel of the guv.

That and in my opinion the crowd at fabric was far better then the Guv, and that can have a big influence on the party.

one thing i noted was 63. Pacha, Buenos Aires is not 63. Pacha, Ibiza like Lisa said.

I wish Guv could hold a 24hr liquor license like Club Space does in Miami. They also let you smoke inside Miami clubs.

Berghain/Panorama Bar looks like a friggin prison from the outside !!

Quoting Steve Lawler:
"When a club is as successful as Space, it's not down to one factor but many: The crowd, the venue, the sound, the music policy, the people behind it, and above all their vision."

there should be a friggin Space in Toronto.. ah well,, we are spoiled enough as it is.

The clubs I plan on visiting in the future are: DC-10-Ibiza, Fabric-London,Space-Ibiza/Miami, Amnesia-Ibiza, Club11-Amsterdam and Cocoon Club-Germany (prob way better then Circa but same kinda style)

Cocoon Club is amazing,, they have this bubble wall thing that separates rooms and re-acts to the music ... never been there but please take vids of this crazy club!

I hope none of you have ever complained about the subjectivity of the 100 top DJ poll, because this is the same thing.

Regardless of whether you think footwork deserves to be where it is on that list or on the list at all, it's great promo for Toronto and shows that you don't have to be charles kabouth to get some recognition in the world clubbing community. It also shows that this city is more than just GUV...finally.

Congrats Joel and Steph and the footwork staff : )

I just can't handle the useless crowd at guv..... Special events at KoolHaus do make sense... However, clubbers at FW are just cool...
