In truth, my definition of an interracial relationship has a lot to do with a series of skin-color swatches I have. If your lover is two shades away from you (based on the swatches), you are legally involved in an interracial relationship and have no recourse if your family doesn't approve of you dating "whitey" or "darky" (respectively).
Ex:
This method is good for two reasons. One, it allows your family to determine easily if you are indeed in an interracial relationship so that they can more easily know when to cast you out for dating "outside of your kind."
Second, it allows the vehement racist with an IQ below that of a 12 to have an easy to reference method for determining whether to date or lynch someone.
