I could see how this would be news if it were say........... Dave Dresden or someone who is actually known.

But some no name from south London? Big whoop.

it's probably the most known name of the dubstep genre..

no, the name Will Bevan.

How does it change knowing that Burial is some guy from South London who you have never heard of before.

It would be much bigger news if the guy behind it was someone who was actually known apart from their work as Burial.

True. He remains quite faceless even after revealing his identity.

So, he is white? I thought he was black lol.

This anonymity thing seems to work everytime, i remember reading somewhere that Enigma have done it with their first album and everyone went nutts about who was/were the person(s) who made that mysterious new-age sound.

So,

Anonymity + Mysterious Music = Win.

I've seen his picture on his MySpace page yesterday... I was confused a bit. :p

It definitely makes people curious/creates buzz.

In Burial's case, I liked the anonymity thing just for the ethic that apparently was behind it. I saw it as a -off to all the dj-in-the-spotlight worshipping that has recently become inseparable part of EDM. It was nice to know there was still someone out there with a strong moral code.

And now it's gone. Gone forever. The bastard.

I don't really care that much.

Good news is that new EP is on the way, and album as well, hopefully with some darker stuff as he previously promised. Maybe we will even get that DJ-Kicks compilation. It's about time something new from him gets released.

:p

I await the new album, but I doubt there'll be an official dj mix from him in a long time. I'm interested in hearing one with "old jungle tunes" and whatever else he said he'd play, but I don't think it'll happen.

I hope there's a lot of irony at work in these posts.

I think it's going to become impossible beyond a certain point of success to maintain anonymity. It's impossibly early for cynical proclamations that the guy is on the road to Tiesto land. You don't even know that he propogated anonymity for political reasons- as a " you" to anyone. That could just be projection. He could simply have been anonymous because he didn't want the attention. Some people are just shy.

At the end of the day, it's what his music sounds like that matters. It doesn't sound any different to me in light of this revelation. Sometimes I think TA focuses far too much on things external to the music.

Still waiting for his DJ Kicks compilation... here's hoping it will contain a lot of the classic 2-step sounds that influenced him.
