The Next Time You Decide to Use Purolator

I thought I would share this WONDERFUL experience I've been having with Purolator with all of you as I feel it's in everyone's best interest this company's beyond horrible standards are revealed.
As I'm in Saskatoon I have to have someone apply for my Chinese visa to go back home on my behalf and the only person that could do it was my grandmother. So I used Purolator to send her my passport, birth certificate and plane tickets as these are required to obtain said visa.
Now I sent this package out MONDAY (take note of Monday folks) and asked the girl at the Saskatoon depot if I needed to pay extra in order for it to be there on Tuesday and she told me "Purolator is always next day...no need to pay more when you ship air!". Awesome...seems like visa obtaining was in sight and I could go back to my bed after two months of living out of a suitcase!
Tuesday: Check status of package online and package is delayed....so I call customer service and received an extremely rude customer service agent who speaks better French than English and can barely understand me. I explain the situation and he tells me the package will arrive tomorrow and when I ask the time he says he is unsure. So I ask if there are any services that will guarantee the package to get there early (knowing they do before 9am delivery) and he tells me there is not. I then ask to speak to a manager named Katherine and after hearing my story she says she will have it delivered by 9am Wednesday morning and she will personally call me to tell me it has been delivered. My grandmother has been waiting around all day so I call her and inform her of the situation and she says she will wait for the package tomorrow again.
Wednesday: Check the status of the package and receive a "correction of address required to deliver". I had never received a call from the manager so I decide to call her and see what the problem is. Line immediately goes to voice mail. Finally after trying five times I call customer service and ask to speak with a different manager. I explain the situation to the manager and he RUDELY tells me he cannot answer my questions because he does not know the answers and that the package is sitting in the Ottawa depot. This other manager then gets in contact with Katherine (who is supposedly not in today) and she calls me back within minutes.
Katherine tells me that she will get in touch with the Ottawa depot and have the package delivered today. My grandmother has been sitting at home AGAIN all day as these are important documents and can't just be left lying around. When the package did not arrive at 9am she called the Ottawa depot and received very rude service and no help at all. Had she been told the package was there she could have gotten the package sent out earlier as Ottawa is two hours ahead.
Now supposedly the package is to be delivered today but another manager Alex calls me to tell me that the package can only be picked up today or delivered tomorrow. At this point I'm beyond fed up and tell the manager to call my grandmother and explain the situation themselves. I also asked Alex if he had an address for the corporate office and he would not give out the information.
SO.....a package that was sent out Monday that was supposed to arrive on Tuesday has yet to get into the receivers hands. These are extremely documents that can't just sit in some depot that has a reputation for horrible service. I'm just baffled at this and even more so at the crappy customer service I received. Is customer service a thing of the past?
Next time you want to use purolator's overpriced, horrid services keep this in mind because I'm sure it isn't the first time it's happened.
Does anyone know another way I can find corporate's info? The website has no information what so ever that I can find. |

, I'd be freaking. I hate sending my passport away for Visa's. I'm always major paranoid. Why can't Canada allow you to have 2 passports like the UK?
I've just used Xpresspost in the past and sent it via next day delivery without any issue. Pretty cheap too (better than FedEx or Purolator). Usually I have the Visa and passport in my hands in under a week of transport both ways (last time was mega fast; there and back in 3 days).
Hope you get it sorted soon Kelly :) |

I have an American passport and could get a Canadian or UK passport I just don't know how the US views someone having two passports. I'd gladly give up my US passport for a British one (saves me 50 dollars everytime I get a Chinese visa!). My grandmother has a Canadian and UK passport with no problem....maybe they changed things recently?
Unfortunately in butt, saskatchewan you have limited options as to what you can ship with. I had Purolator or Canada post and Canada Post Courier does even better than this! |

Awesome...thanks hun! :)
If anyone who reads this thread has had horrid experiences with Purolator please take 10 minutes out of your day to write down a letter and send it off to corporate. Their services will only get more ty if people don't complain! |

hmmm....i've been using purolator almost every day for 12 years and I've never had a problem....I would recommend them over any other service.
They get an A+++ in my books |

| I've had similar experiences with less critical shipments. They're terrible. I did complain, but I don't think anyone cared. |

If I was to write a letter to every company that I received bad service from I wouldn't have time to have a job. |

US citizenship laws don't allow for dual citizenships from what i recall. once you get citizenship from another country, you automatically forfeit the US one. |
