Opus, if you want to debate all you have to do is not respond with your vulgar langugage. |
Every single person on this forum has responded to you respectfully and in detail with great care in the past.
Since you don't choose to actually debate anything with anyone, ignore their points, change the subject, use 3rd grade logic and also sling insults of your own, we've now arrived here: NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK. Slinging insults at you is actually a better way to engage you in some kind of "discussion" then actually discussing anything. |

| Did nobody read my post? Giving these people attention is exactly what they want you to do. If it seems like they have you run around in circles its because they are. The only thing that would come out of trying is the energy you put into trying and their enjoyment of watching you kill yourself doing it. |

One of the reasons I have no problems hurling back insults if the poster themselves do it. Calling out their bullsh*t for everyone to see. I have no problem in rooting out a village idiot. |

The thing that has burned me out on politics, or at least discussing politics, is how people seem to pick a "side," put the blinders on and fire away. People love to call themselves "moderates," but in the end, I find that 90% of people simply form a set of ideas, attach them to certain people or parties, and follow them to no end. It's discouraging that as I get older more and more people that I've looked up to begin to fall into this category. Talking politics has turned into how much rhetoric and misinformation can be spewed rather than the use of intelligence and logic to actually have a discussion. |
Yeah, that's pretty accurate description of political discussion for the most part... which is mostly why I don't feel like there's much point in posting. There's a big difference between propagating an opinion or world view, and discussion. Opus, in my experience life is much better when you avoid internet forums (well, at least anything related to politics). There's too many people who seem addicted to forums because they apparently have nothing better to do, or seem to spend large amounts of time in a [computer] lab or a computer at work (not the most stress free or the most helpful environment). When you spend a lot of time doing something, chances are you might get more involved with it than you thought or liked. Take a break or something man, spend time with your woman (and friends or family) instead of people talking from behind the safety of a keyboard. Oh, there is still some good Progy kind of music, nothing that "recent" I can think of (because apparently in the EDM world, music becomes ancient after a few weeks) but you might want to check out Balance 013 (Disc 1 is awesome) and Nick Warren's GU 030 Paris. Take it easy man.

You would be the guy who doesn't care. All the people left who do care would be like Latinlover, a small radical authoritarian group. Authoritarianism is where government goes when the people do not care anymore. |

Well no opus. You get all worked up about anything, spend that much time on it, eventually its going to get tiring. To what end anyway? You read all the angles, hear all the view points, get worked up about this or that......
Its hard in today's connected world not to get engulfed by all of it. You have to draw a line, take everything in moderation. |
For the most part on most other things in life, that's exactly what I do (believe it or not).
| quote: | | You mentioned about watching the 24 hour cable nonsense, but this is the very reason I refuse to do so and don't even have a subscription. Your tendency to over extend things is well known around here. Certain people's views will never change no matter what you hit them over the head with. |
I kinda figured that out by the second day I was here back in 2001. I doubt anyone is here to really change minds, are they?
| quote: | | So I often don't see the point in making it a personal quest to see a thread through pages and pages unless you get some sort of enjoyment out of it. |
I know. Kinda sick, isn't it?
| quote: | | Otherwise you let the very people you're championing against wear you down which might have been their intention from the start. |
If I were worn down, I wouldn't be posting here for nearly 7 years.
| quote: | I remember in a thread Occrider was talking about how he spent hours and hours droning over physics research and reports and spatial analysis or some other ridiculousness just to prove a point. All I could think of was why? To do these things it better mean that much to you.
Use some common sense, SLOW DOWN. Take a break. Have a vacation. the misses. The election is around the corner and I have a feeling you're not going to be able to keep yourself away even if you tried.
I'm sorry but this gets one big DUH from me. |
Fair enough. I think it's not so much the politics of it all that gets me. Rather, it's the ing commentary on the politics that boils me over, and the analysis, and the analysis of the analysis, all the way to the point of complete absurdity.
Anyway, I did take a break from it all to study up for the Boards. Well those are now behind me, and when I returned back to politics, flipped on the stations and started reading the blogs again, it drove me nuts listening to everyone analyze the crap outa everything. I'm tired of the opinions, I guess. I tried not to listen too much to them anyway, but I find even the more respectable opinions on either side are driving me nuts now.
Wake me when the debates start, I guess. |

Well read into it as you like. You know where I stand on how McCain is playing politics right now. In any case, I agree I'm a bit burnt. |

that blog hasn't existed for months. i think since February, so yeah. |
Sorry, I was just rambling off a few. Actually I peer over at Powerline and Instapundit from time to time as well (despite me completely disagreeing with them about 95% of the time). |

Again Opus i dont read w.e you have to say. |
Again, Latinlover, why the do you even comment in a thread when you don't even read what others have to say, especially when it's the main topic of the thread itself?
Can you just get banned again already so we can please not have you as a distraction? Christ you're like the blackhead in a zit that won't go away.
| quote: | | but ill tell you this americans are going to retake back congress, in which devil eyes pelosi hasnt done . you know it. |
How can she when your stupid president has threatened to veto everything he disagrees with?
| quote: | | are you saying that dem controlled congress are representing america? yeah right. in the first 100 days they didnt do and till this day they havent done anything. |
We've already been through this, asshat. Scroll through the earlier threads if you want to pick up that conversation.
And yes, the Democrats are more aligned with what the Americans want right now. If you want to start a thread that pertains to which party is more aligned with the American majority on issues, I'm game. But considering how big of a coward that you are, I highly doubt we'll be seeing you on that one.
But whenever you're ready for that, champ, start it up and we'll cover the gambit of topics where Americans stand and where both parties stand. Say the word.
| quote: | | look what we did with newt when he was the speaker. |
Are you really going to hold up Newt, the corrupt little as he is, as your champion Speaker? Oh boy, please keep talking about how wonderful he was, champ.
| quote: | | obama is all hype but come elections you obamaniacs are going to get a heart attack when he loses. |
Please, Latin, keep predicting things. Pretty please? |
