| I missed it. No biggie. Sounds like Armin kicked it old-school style... I wish I had the passion I had for his sets prior 2001, but this time around he seems to have outdone himself. |

The only track that I probably would have liked the whole night.(if I was there)Too bad most Djs have forgotten about the true meaning of trance music.:( It is not about the vocals and it sure isnt about this electro/minimal garbage that we have now either. |
What a track. I remember the chills I got when it was first released soooo long ago - feels like yesterday!!! |

what Iam trying to say that the new atrists these days are throwing everything together and calling it trance.Remember the electro bandwagon we had not too long ago?how every trance Dj was playing eletro/trance because it was cool and all.Now it is the minimal element mixed to it.
Bottom line the mainstream trance isnt as pure anymore. Most of it sounds the same and it is getting harder and harder to find a track that you ll remember 2 months from now. That wasnt the case a few years back. |
Few years back it was also not as congested with track release flow. We started getting hammered with all kinds of garbage around 2001 and up. From 1993 to around 1999, I could ID any track thrown at me, as there wasn't that much trance to remember.
I know you're a hardcore psy fan, and I can tell you're passionate about what you say about generic club trance, and how hard it is to find a good record lately, but you gotta admit, the ratio of good stuff to garbage is psy release scene is about the same. 95% pure crap. It is all over the music scene. I still find some goodies once in a blue moon, but nothing that lasts. It is either the scene is not the same, which obviously it isn't for many reasons, or someone is getting old :)
p.s. One of the old albums that I still bring up as reference material is the first album by Scooter from 1993, and is the landmark time for me getting into trance. Got it at good old Fresh Records on St.Clair(whats Lou up to these days?) For 1993, the sound could not have been better developed, and years later most trance artists could not do better. The music was so intelligently done, it made German techno sound stupid. I was mesmerized, and then understood the true meaning of "trance". That was real trance, and with second album release and on, it just got worse and worse, and by album #4 or so, it became total fluff. Oh, and Platipus Records stuff was also ahead of its time. |
