so when you go out to party, you have to wear coats and stuff but what happens when you get in the club? coat check? how exactly does that work? do you wear something that you could normally wear in the summer and then just cover up with a long coat because you'll check it when you get in? do you have to tip the coat check person? do people steal coats?

lol

you usually give in your coat and they give you a tag with a number on it. when u leave u go back give the girl the tag she fetches ur coat.

You simply pay something like 1-2 Euro and they store you coat / stuff until you leave the club. Just like it works in every theater, opera, etc.
Of course there are always idiots thinking "I'll save the 1 Euro and just walk the 10 mins from my car in a sleeveless shirt when it's -10 °C".
Never heard of things getting lost or stolen, but I'm sure it happens.

You allow the gay bartender (there is always one) to twist your nipples once or twice, then he is so happy that he not only looks after your stuff but gives you free martini vodka drinks for the rest of the night.

I usually don't wear a jacket out here during the fall and winter months if I'm going to be partying (even if it's pissing down snow). The time spent between my car and the venue is usually slim to none and the temperature is nothing I can't stand for a few seconds. Keeps me from having to use the coat check, which in turn saves a couple of bucks and a hassle at the end of the night.

You give them your coat, you get a little piece of paper with a number on it, they put another with the same number on your coat.

Yes.

Kinda hard to get away with. They lose the stickers all the time - that's normal, but then some simple questions can help them locate your coat (eventually). If coats just disapeared it would be obvious that the person working there stole them, and they would lose their jobs (unless their employers are retarded).

Worked in a coat check once. On a good night we'd usually make around 40-50$ in tips each. Pretty much doubles your salary.
Cloudburst
Party clothes beneath, coat on top (surprisingly). We never tip here.

Coat checks lose jackets alot. I normally find a bartender i know & have them keep my coat at the bar.

It's probably a good thing to do, but I've not once seen it done nor have I done it myself.
