Apparently as of yesterday Beatport is adding tax/VAT on top of your total. How come they don't communicate this with their users  And where is that tax going anyway?

Well, beatport have just lost me as a customer.

I had £175.00 worth of music carted on their site and had planned on adding to it so i could make a purchase when I next get paid.

I checked it yesterday and the new tax takes it over £200.00

A 3 and 4 track release now costs more at beatport than to buy the vinyl equivilent. 1 track which shows on their site @ £1.99 is now £2.29.

I won't shop with them again, only thing I'll use their site for is listening to samples.

complete ****s.

Not for everyone. I don't get that tax.

that is wank i imagine most of the uk will pack them in they seem to have an habit of not telling you about things like this they started charging for using a debit card the first i knew about it is when i looked at my statement i bet most people dont have a clue.

a £1.29 track now costs £1.48
i like how they dont tell you untill you go on checkout

I think its only for certain areas?

well, no difference to us british idiots. i feel like i been paying through the nose for everything since i got my first cu,nting bank account. The only people to blame are the bellends who contributed to beatport gaining monopoly on dance music d/l's, This meant a load of pen pushers who would normally be working for tesco/asda/wallmart as professional small business wreckers are now employed in the demanding role of ruining what beatport should be about.

Im upset to say my name is included on the long list of bellends who used beatport on an almost exclusive basis.

Yeah, it's bullsh!t, imo. They should be adjusting their prices to equal what the USD users are paying(ie, a 1.49 USD song should be .75p in GBP)...But tax now?
Ri-f*ckin-diculous.

Maybe it's because they run their payments through England? (I think?)

Have you tried using an anonymous proxy server? That might help ;)
Although it would depend on how they are screening buyers, if it's through IP or through your credit card, bank account, etc.

bunch of s i say! :whip:

you don't even have to pay VAT for downloads in finland, but they still charge it!?!? :whip: :whip: :whip:

edit: and it's 14,8%? wtf kind of number is that? should be 22% here and 17,5% in the uk afaik. doesn't sound like VAT to me, more like a bull excuse to raise the prices! :whip: :whip: :whip:

too bad so many labels sell their stuff only at beatport! :whip:

Each country in europe has different % values depending on the type of product/service you are supplying (trust me i work with this ball); so a blanket charge of 14.5% VAT smells like ball to me.

As previously mentioned, European prices are already exaggerated compared to the dollar... and now... this? In U.S. is there even such a thing as VAT :stongue: :haha: the double standards continue.
