I have this equation: -x^3+16x^2-73x+99 = 0
I want to know how to factor this?

I have programs that solve for the roots:
x1:9.28799213896
x2:2.578933385691
x3:4.133074475349

but my goal is to show how I obtained them. I guess in fractional form

I know you must remove the negative sign in front so it becomes:
x^3-16x^2+73x-99=0

but then the rest I can't see how to break it apart.

Thanks if anyone can get me in the right direction...
infinity HiGH
umm since the equation = 0, all u do is flip everything to the other side of the = and voila, the + becomes - and vice versa. I dont see what the problem here is

Isn't that like, grade 9/10 math??

maybe he IS in grade 9/10?

off, Pete.

You made a mistake copying the equation. I should say:
-x^3 + 16*x^2 - 73*x + 90 = 0

DON'T DIVIDE BY ZERO!!!

you will destroy the world.

oh maybe this doesnt show the work, i dunno.

maybe google cand find you a site that solves and shows the process

If x=a is a solution, do Polynomial Long Division :

Ax^3 + Bx^2 + Cx + D / (x-a)

You will get Ax^2 + Bx + C = 0

solve it with
