Following your dreams

Lots of people say that you should follow your dreams, and that if you work hard enough you can achieve them.

But what are you supposed to do if you don't have any dreams? :conf:

You go on top of a watch tower with a high powered sniper rifle and start shoot at people till you feel better about yourself. Then you rape the guy that played the judge in my cousin vinnie.

Make a thread about it?

The aforementioned response was inevitable, really. I just thought you'd like me to get it our of the way so we can move on.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later.

I have desires, stuff like not starving, having a place to live, and not being too uncomfortable in everyday life. Net access, music, and the occasional book or DVD. The stuff I want seems so "basic" to me.

Is this it? Once I can get all this stuff on a steady basis, do I just spend my time with these mild amusements and tick off the moments until death? I guess that's okay, but it seems kind of pointless whenever I stop to think about it. Maybe the key to contentment is just to immerse myself in the details of life and forget about the "big picture."

Why does that worry you?

Everybody essentially wants the same thing: health, financial security and a family.

You've named two of those things.

If you're worried that there's "more" to life, perhaps you should be out doing something that will allow you to leave your mark on the world.

I suggest you begin writing philosophy books. You'll get discovered eventually. :p
