This is true. When I had a cat, he would meow to get in, meow to get out, meow to get in, meow to get out. Finally, I decided not to give in. I let him, but never let him back out. SO once he was in, he stayed in. Eventually he learned, and as he got older, he'd sleep on my bed the entire night. He would even know when I was going to bed, and walk up the stairs right behind me, and go right to sleep. But that's an old cat. Young cats are too full of energy to be that docile.

i sleep with a loaded mini supersoaker looking water gun for my cat. i also have a fairly large dog cage that i used to use for my dog so when she starts annoying me at like 3, 4 and 5 in the morning (yes, she wakes me up at those times EVERY SINGLE DAY) i just throw her in the cage (in the livingroom) and then close my bedroom door and put a pillow over my head and go to sleep.

I can imagine what Jamie will do when she becomes a mom and has a screaming baby...

seriously cat's meow is a powerful weapon. I've been trying to get my cat to lose weight but if I dare not refill his dish I will get an earful unless I comply. At 5am you'll do anything to shut that cat up.

lol i actually started a bulletin on myspace when i first got my kitten and said that anyone who was considering having children should get a kitten first.

Oh come on. The solution is very simple. Just lock the cat in another room of the house where you cannot hear it. Preferably not a room which contains smashable objects. Give it a bed, some water, a litter tray and something to play with.

Your problem is that cats are nocturnal animals. When I walk my dog around the streets at 1-2am I see hundreds of cats, acting out some nocturnal cat social network. When we had cats, they used to be put out at night and come back in the morning. A kitten won't be old enough to do that yet, but confining a cat to one room alone all night is pretty cruel, and if you give it the freedom of the house it will climb the ing walls looking for things to do.

yea i know my cat just sits home and sleeps all damn day while im at work. she is fired up when i get home and then when im eating dinner and chilling, she chills too....then when im ready for bed, she's fired up again lol

i have a small apartment so i can't just put her in another room. my only option is the dog cage and then closing my bedroom door and i can still hear her little ass. drives me nuts.

i love her though i know she'll mellow out as she gets older. she is the cutest thing and makes me laugh.

I would lock the cat in the bathroom if he won't shut up. Then you don't have to listen to him, and he'll shut eventually when nobody opens the door. He'll learn. Cats are smarter then people give them credit, and can be complex. Just hope he doesn't hold a grudge and piss on your bed or couch as a consequence.

I don't use a spray bottle on my two cats (brothers) when they misbehave, cuz I didn't want them to associate water with anything but baths. BTW a soft air bb gun works wonders keeping them off kitchen counters and window screens. They get a stinging shot and they don't even know what hit 'em. They learn quick.

We used a scatmat:

Worked well... and kept the cat from meowing under the door.

feed it benadryl.

You must be bright.

It's a kitten- it can't go outside all night on its own, so it has to be confined inside all night. Until it's old enough, how is putting it in a room with everything it needs any more cruel than having it sit outside your bedroom meowing plaintively all night?

Secretly switch its catnip with weed, and watch it forget to meow and fall asleep.

/and keep some treats handy

Yea, cat's natural hunting times are at night. Usually, right after the sun goes down, and right before it comes up.
