I always give in to my cats and they sleep with me. I do remember how annoying they are before they turned one. Putting one of them in another room isn't an option, it can open doors.
I would suggest getting another cat and playing with her before you go to sleep. I put all things away that could possibly annoy me that the cat would play with. Good Luck! |

Seriously though, how much of a dog's 'love' or 'happiness' is just out of obedience? Quite a bit, I would wager. They're all playful and fun because you say "c'mere boy, let's play!" and they do as they're told.
A cat, however, only loves you becuase it wants to love you, or because it wants to play, not because you've told it to. Like people :p |
I'm guessing you've never owned a dog. When I come home from university and I haven't seen my dog for weeks or months, he goes absolutely nuts at the sight of me- tail wagging so hard he's knocking things over everywhere, dancing around in excitement and coming up and leaning against me to be stroked as soon as I sit down. It's the same when my Dad was working away in another country for weeks on end- the dog would get really despondent and down while he was gone. The last time there was a thunderstorm (Max is afraid of thunder), I was sitting in the living room and I looked around and saw him in the doorway looking terrified. He came straight over to be comforted, and I had to sit under the kitchen table with him for an hour until the storm stopped.
These things aren't out of obedience. He'll come up and nuzzle me or bring his ball to play with even when I haven't prompted him, or haven't told him to do anything. Dogs are social animals. They live in packs and they love company and they love family members. The things above are out of a genuine bond we have.
I'm not saying cats are aloof, cold bastards and dogs are all happiness and friends. I've had three cats and two dogs and I love them both. You can get a proper bond with a cat and you need to treat a dog properly for it to really love you, but there's nothing fake about a dog's affection. |

This is true. When I had a cat, he would meow to get in, meow to get out, meow to get in, meow to get out. Finally, I decided not to give in. I let him, but never let him back out. SO once he was in, he stayed in. Eventually he learned, and as he got older, he'd sleep on my bed the entire night. He would even know when I was going to bed, and walk up the stairs right behind me, and go right to sleep. But that's an old cat. Young cats are too full of energy to be that docile. |
yep yep. my cat is so trained now, that it goes to sleep when i do (most of the time lol) and will start meowing at me around 6:50 a.m. (10 min before my alarm goes off for work.) my cat has actually woken me up on work days when i forgot to set my alarm.
i <3 my cat |

Dogs rule, simply because you can grab a dog by the face and roll it over or tackle it to the ground and it will love it and play along - try doing that to a cat and it will take your eyes out.

Dogs are pack animals which is why they are so socialable. Cats are more solitary. But they can be just as sociable as dogs are. Ever heard of a "lap cat". I had one. I sit or lay down to watch tv, boom, cat jumps up and settles in right next to me. I go to bed, boom, he's there going to sleep too. Usually though, it's older cats which are that docile. But not all cats are are as you say. |

my cat loves play fighting. it all depends on how they were raised and how trusting they are in their environment.
cats that act like dogs > dogs

i do completely understand why so many people hate cats. they probably have only been around really antisocial cats that didn't get the love and attention they needed when they were still kittens. of course they're going to be very untrusting and skittish, and cats like that are no fun to be around.
i challenge anyone who dislikes cats to come spend a day at my house and get to know Sasha. :toocool: everyone who's ever met him has totally fallen in love with him... even people that said they didn't really care for cats. |

Very true, cats like that are no fun.
I have a couple cats that are very socialable, toilet trained, and can be walked on a leash. |

cats are awesome. we have a calico, she's so funny and bitchy (seriously) and stupid and she's obsessed with eating. her personality is huge and once you get to know her she is irresistible. cats FTW!
... even tho i'm allergic to them.

the best is when i'm having sex and she starts attacking my guy's foot while he's doing me. lol
or no better yet...i love when it's 4 a.m. and i'm dead asleep and i guess i happen to move a little and she sees my foot under the blanket move and she attacks it under the blanket too so her claws literally scratch the out of my foot. her claw even got caught in my skin on the top of my foot one time. omg it sucked. i was bleeding bad too. it's the worse way to be woken up from a deep sleep. i was like, "OW! WHAT THE FDKL:SJFSL:DKFJL:SDKFJSDKL:"
then i start storming down the hallway chasing her and she knows already that i'm gonna put her in the cage so she runs in there on her own like a little smart ass:stongue: |

by the way, how are all of your cats with strangers? it really sucks because mine is super shy and won't come out at all unless you are a regular at my apt. so everyone just naturally thinks my cat is a psycho or antisocial and "typical" but really she has the biggest personality. i wish my friends could see her the way she acts around just me. she's hilarious.
it seems like everyone whose house i go to that has a cat, the cat just runs up to everyone and purs and wants to be pet and im like WTF! my cat never does that. lol she's more like, "and who the is THIS now mom?" |
