I think the massives have blown badly for starters. That was one prominent way of getting new ppl on board TA for the other events you see posted on here.
But yeah, the other websites are snoozers too. I remember reading reviews off other sites too, professional reviews off globalsound.ca, etc. DJView is the freshest thing I've seen in awhile, Mr Walker. |

and well, to be COMPLETELY honest...everyone here who knows anything about me knows my EDM dream is to have Sir Steve back at Stereo or at least in an afterhours setting (ie: a Tribe massive or something like that). i really think people are getting sick of steve lawler bookings AT TRIBE, not steve lawler bookings altogether.
if he was booked at Stereo every 3-4 months (like danny howells for his dig deeper nights), i think MTLta would be raving about it every time he was here.
i seriously believe he delivered 2 completely different-sounding, differently structured sets (one in june, one in august).
the june one was total mimimal-tech(no).
the august one was total prog-tech-house.
i preferred his august gig cuz i like prog more than mimimal...he proved to me that he can still step off that overflowing mimimal-tech(no) bandwagon and go right back to dirty progressive sounds that ing roar on a dancefloor...the gigs were less than 2 months apart and he didn't play the same thing at all...as a matter of fact, i'm not very savy with track-IDing on a dancefloor but i'd bet my signed lawler stuff that there wasn't one single track that was repeated between those 2 gigs.
so if he continues with this formula, of changing it up every 2-4 months, then MTLta has nothing to complain about, imo. if the same face plays different sounds, why complain? be thankful there's someone like that left. techno lawler one time, proggy lawler the next: that sounds like freaking heaven to me!
that being said, the guy's on flights every 2-4 days. as ANY international DJ, and from what i've heard & seen, they change their sets up every 2-4 months. they really don't have time to go further than that. i know it's sad and ya, sure, it should be (hypothetically, in a perfect world) all about the music but there are only 24 hours in a day and only so much time one can spend hunting down the latest heaviest tunage.

TO be honest since the beginning of july when stereo had the fire and closed down there doors, this forum and this city died with it.
so for one lets all come together and bridge that void thats missing and help stereo get back on its feet..... GOD I MISS THAT SOUND SYSTEM
tribe is tribe and they are providing us with something that no one else in this city is providing so honestly you guys should not sit there and say tribe is ty and bookings blow cuz there are people out there who know who certain djs are and what nights to check out.

Pete tong is actually a really good dj and i had the chance to catch him on the space terrace in miami when he played after sultan and he totally tore the place up dont take is radio 1 mixes as an example of what he plays live... maybe you have scene him and maybe it was a while back but this was from recent experience YOU PUREST :P. as for his mixing i did not notice anything wrong with it and technically speaking thats probably cuz he was on live.... but again he is a pioneer in the industry
Picnik Electronik and mutek bring what clubs like tribe and stereo dont bring, and thats the minimal and tech sound with alot of diversity amongst there line ups so thats a plus and i have to salut them as they show promise every year with the diversity and great time to show all of us.
so Yaaaaa maybe the forums are dead maybe some of you will say the city is dead and not as entertaining anymore, but then again some of us are getting old and maybe just want to pick and choose where we go and the events we want to check out .......
Finally you should not forget that this city is a university city where every year there is a new wave of kids that come in and the old get flushed back out to there place of origin. so the scene tends to start fresh every 3 years or so, ive been seeing this since 97, then again thats my opinion just thought i would say something in regards to that. |
