| I stop complaining now because I realize im happy with what we have. I only want to go out maybe once a month these days anyways so usually I can find something good. As long as Daome keeps doing its thing I probably will only go to these things + Piknik. |

With piknic ending this weekend, there will be a big void in the upcoming months. I will definitely miss piknic.
I also wish there were more 10-3 parties, on normal nights (fri-sat). Unlike some people (maybe I'm getting old), I can't do the afterhours as much as I used to. So what Tribe and Opera are doing, even if it's Thursday/Sunday, is much appreciated. |

Through all my years partying....i think the scene is just perfect for me...i cant do too many after hours anymore, life gets more demanding as you get older...im glad that there is a club or 2 (Tribe, Opera) that bring my favorite DJ's and where i can drink and be home by 4....back in the days, all i had was Aria & Stereo and very early on, Sona but I was too young to take full advantage...
There is a new Generation...and i noticed that they are BIG on Trance and the "commercial" house sound...ppl's tastes have changed...Havent bumped into too many ppl who are digging for underground electronic music these days...to me, 7 yrs ago, having Mauro Picotto @ the Molson Center with 6000 ppl was the craziest thing in the world....today, those numbers for a DJ playing (today's) techno is almost impossible...Imagine Riccardo or Richie or Sven attracting even a fraction of that on their own today....doubt it.
Montreal used to be a place where ppl were more daring and were willing to discover a new and fresh sound...now, i feel music has taken a back seat to Bottles, rims and cash.
I Have however noticed a huge rise in local talent, which im sure is due to the great years we had between 2001-2006 (for me at least)....but i feel that the young ppl in this city are less focused on music, and more of the glamour partying....the supper clubs are big now....the scene is changing big time...
Yeah I love Tribe, just cuz they bring my favorite DJ's...i've followed Sasha, Sander, Digweed, Lawler since i was like 16....doesnt mean i dont get annoyed of the "oh bro, who is this guy Shawn Lawler guy, i got a magnum bottle of Goose"....Just what i have to put up with if i wanna hear some decent beats in a club...sure its no ARIA...or Stereo...but it will do....it could be much worse, i could be living in Saskatoon or something lol
You wont see many ppl trying to go to an afterhours after partying 10-3 because they heard that some underground DJ from london is spinning...its different now
to the outside person....the "rave" scene is not so cool anymore...this is just my observations...
Stereo getting burned definetly didnt help....
We could sit here all day and reminisce about what we once had....but usually happens in cycles....maybe in 10 years, Se7ven nightclub will have Luciano and Magda as residents :)
Either way, what we have today, makes me feel stupid for bitching in 2006 when we were complaining about the scene not being the same as in 02'-04'
I feel like had my hardcore partying days, im happy that i saw so many talented artists perform at my favorite clubs and parties over the years...
If you want a better scene, just support...
Do something...
Even posting on forums helps...
Look at TOTA....that forum is always bumping...the fact that so many of them are on boards for sure helps the scene there.
Ive heard from many ppl that Toronto is waaaay better than MTL now for partying and electronic music in general.
P.S i still hate toronto, especially their wack ass hockey team :)
Just my honest opinion.... |

I don't know what you guys are complaining about... the forum might be dead but the scene is very much alive. And perhaps the forum is dead because everyone actually got a life? :conf: :p
I don't know about you but I'm very happy with the bookings we've had this summer and the ones going down this month and the next. And being a Trance head..I feel spoiled. :)
I don't have a problem at all with the afterhour thing. I'm not getting younger but I still have enough juice in me to go to Afterhours for a looooong time. The 10 to 3 parties are way too short for me..I still wanna party till the wee hours...et de toutes facons, the only clubs I see before 1 - 2 AM are club sandwiches.
I really miss Stereo though.. :( |
