yeah thank god for benefits! I get pretty nice coverage
unfortunately I'm without OHIP for now, since my new work permit puts me in an administative loophole within OHIP's system :( trying to resolve that now! |

| Thankfully i have pretty good benefits at work and everything is covered. It's not full coverage.. but close to it.. between 80-90% depending on what it is. |

Tell that to someone like me who has a prescription of -4.25 (medium strength), who cannot even read the letters on a computer screen cca. 50 cm distant and who needs to work on the computer every day all day at work. No, things like glasses are not essential for your life, but they are essential for your normal everyday ability to function and for your well-being.

No, they don't. At least I never got any coverage or reimbursement for either eye-doctor examinations or my eye-glass prescriptions. I had to pay for them out of my own pocket.

I'm a special case because whenever i get a pair of glasses, it has to be made by specialist because I am too blind. (last pair cost me 350, most of it on the lenses)
isn't OHIP made for poor people who might need that exceptional health costs covered?

just a check up, few x rays and some cleaning today cost me 350. even if you go to dentist once a year, that's still a hunk of paycheck for most people.

if the purpose of OHIP is to provide for basic health needs and improve quality of life of avg citizen, any other medical insurance shouldn't be necessary.
i'm going to blow my top next time I hear some chick got a boob job at govt expense. (i know that stuff isn't covered by OHIP anymore) |
