ways of losing unneeded kilos (pg. 2)

I believe that to permanently take off the weight it's a lifestyle change.
Meaning there could be a radical change in the way you've been used to doing things in the past.
(This might not apply to most you since most of your are still young with higher metabolic rates than myself but mark my words, your day will come.)
I can only speak for myself here but I've changed my eating habits (including what I eat) and I'm on a regular excercise schedule (at least 3-4 times a week).

Some things I do/believe

- I'm totally into alternative medicines. Never believed in the pharamacudicals (man-made), but luckily in my life I've rarely ever had to rely on such stuff.

- Don't believe in 'getting your shots'

- Read a book called "Eating Right for Your Blood Type".
What a neat book. Basically they breakdown that different blood types should eat differently (hence the title, lol). Believe it or not, I was able to guess my blood type before I really knew what it was, based on the way they described how one would feel after eating certain foods. I was right!
(I'm AB postive which is actually a very rare blood type.)

- Through my business I have access to some very high quality multivitamins. I totally believe we don't get enough suppliments from our North American diet (which is atrocious btw...).

- Cut out SUGAR and PROCESSED FOODS.
This means sucrose, glucose, frucose (or any 'ose'), enriched white flour & corn syrup are the biggest offenders. I was totally amazed how much stuff had this crap in it. North America is sugar mountain!
And recently companies like Coca-Cola are coming under fire because of the high obesity rate here. In one can of Coke, there's something like 10 teaspoons of sugar! ICK.
There's a corporate dogma of chasing the kids to get to the parent's wallets and its costing us big time!

- Been getting into India and Mediterranian cuisines! Man they're tasty! (And mostly good).

- Good ole fashion regular exercise is a must. :)

- Stress, find something to relieve stress! Trance and exercise are a good combo for me...
I had a friend back in college; he said his body totally seized because of stress, and he was in great shape! Stress does lots of weird things on a person. Find an outlet...(but don't kick your dog or mine :D)

The way I tackle it is to look at my body as a whole.
Diet, exercise, mind; all have an intricate part with each other.
Do some research about yourself, then do some research about our society, our diet, and other methods of doing things.
In the long run, it's your body and your choice.
I for one am not playing the game of ignorance.
It'll take time and $$ but to me, I'm investing in myself, the best investment I'll ever make. :)

I've been eating lots of fruits and drinking lots of water...but I've been gaining weight (which I want because my arms are like twigs) but theres lots of ways to lose it, but if you want to look good at the same time, then exercise. I wanted to grow bigger in size, but I ended up growing my stomache instead of my body. Body works very wierd sometimes.

go raving...that'll help you lose weight! and less time on the computer.

you dont know how true this is...

going clubbing is a very good way of keeping fit.. beleive it or not its actually good for you to go out! unless of course you are eating illegal sweeties.. but still you burn off the calories! tests have proven that dancing all night in a hot club will lose as much calories as running 10 miles (or sumthin close to that).. but for this to work you need to look after yourself i.e. drink plenty of water so as not to dehydrate and to take in sources of sodium to stop ur muscles cramping up.

:)

good diet is always a must.

Sorry for being so thick but how does water make you lose weight? I understand that it will stop you from becomming de-hydrated but there really isn't anything good in it. It's neither good or bad.

Water doesnt make you lose weight. You might have up to 5 lbs of water you can lose through out your body, but thats a homeostatic state and if you lost your water weight it would be back in a day. Im saying this because this one dumb bitch used to tell people who were all excited and said :I just lost 5 lbs this week!!: and then shed be like ohhhh water weight, you havent lost any fat. And it would discourage them. I hate dumb s ruining peoples day with misinformation. Body builders sometimes workout in neoprene suits right before a comp to lost that extra bit of padding, but it comes back fast. Water is good, drink a lot of it...but not too much. If you are drinking a couple gallons a day you dilute the electrolytes in your body and thats no gouda.

you can die from drinking too much water

you guys have no idea, i used to be huge! like jared but sometimes i would just not eat for days. Sure, i'd feel terrible but i would look just like a model. Sometimes i would stick my finger in my throat and vomit.

Hey Kids, its jc (med student, here to answer your questions again)

the body really operates on pretty simple principles. for weight control the scientific literature shows that there is no recognised diet or pill or potion that you take to lose weight that works. ie you put the weight back on once you stop the diet (or whatever).

things that do work are 1. gastric banding or other surgical nasties that reduce the volume of your stomach so youre not physically able to eat more than you need.

2 the other (and basically they are the same thing) is to modify your lifestyle including diet and exercise so that you only put in what you take out. people in their day to day lives dont realize how little food you actually need to survive with.

important tips are
a:make sure you eat fruit and vegetables (for your vitamins and essential minerals).

b: do drink water... it is very good for you to help wash out the toxins your body creates of its own accord and those oyu ingest. dont drink too much though.

c: you dont have to stop eating when youre full... try getting used to stopping before youve had ur fill. this can turn into a habit of its own which makes you more inclined to be less over weight.

3. speedd or amphetamine of any nature is generally an appetite supressant. in fact as many of you are probably aware, apmhetamine was originally used in the 50's by the medical profession as an anorexic agent to help people lose weight. if you were speeding then you would exercise a lot and not eat which is a perfect combination for losing weight. just dont lose too much.

in general - kids i see in the trance scene are not over weight any how. any exercise is good for you. however you dont need ot bust yourself. for example any half hour of light to moderate exercise (like going for a walk) is excellent for your health. losing weight exercise isnt the same as cardiovascular fitness where you are training your heart and blood vessels to be more efficient ect. CV exercise is more likely to get your weight moving up as you build muscle doing it and gain stores for useage next time you exert yourself that much... walking is the worlds best exercise. it only takes half an hour a day for the benefits to be seen in loss of weight and reduction of risk for adverse cardiovascular events (like heart attack or embolic stroke).

basically to be the right weight you need ot not eat more than your body needs to power itslef through the day. you need to increase the energy demands of the body by exercising more. if you dont eat as much and exercise more...

i am sorry if any of you out there are over weight and reading this and feeling lousy. it is most important to feel good about yourself. i know that it is not easy to do. fcuk if it was easy then... but i can only suggest the following... small steps make a big difference. nothign is fast. good luck. if you need to talk it over... it would be my pleasure to help you guys work out what is best for you. because its your journey.

kewl... stay healthy and fit. ur buddy, jc.

ps had to bloody get the speling rite becoz it waz fcukin awfull the first time :)

well, here's my plan for the summer: running 5.3 miles uphill every day in 80-95 degree weather... (~50 minutes or non-stop running) +lots of water and fruit. maybe also some jumping and sprinting (suicides) and sprinting uphill (god...). and in the fall i'll start going to the gym to work on my muscles.

p.s. running is also a very good mental excersise.
