Whats so bad about DC and Bethesda?
I haven't actually been there, i seeded that to see what people think of the place |
DC is nice, but Bethesda is one of the richest suburbs... it's nice in that sterile new money kind of way.
I lived a quarter mile from the border between the two for about a year and it was the nicest neighborhood I've ever lived in. |

Bethesda is about 25 mins away from me, and i used to date a nice jewish girl from there. but realistically they're all very upperclass sheltered type, she was hot and bought me things but didn't know much about anything besides money and shopping.
went to a few parties, met a few of her friends, and they were all pretty much the same.
very clean area tho, probably nice to raise your children in. |

One of the fastest growing murder rates in the US is not that bad? :P |
the murder rate is a poor statistic to look at when choosing a place to move. You take any large city and the murder rate looks crazy, but what that doesn't tell you is that those are not all random murders. Probably 75% of those murders are drug related or criminal on criminal violence, 20% are crimes of passion committed by people who know each other already, and the other 5% are random murders. So if you avoid criminal activity and the areas it occurs in, and don't hook up with any crazy bitches you don't have a much higher chance of getting killed there than in any city with a "low" murder rate. |

| So, as far as moving somewhere a couple hundred/thousand miles away. What's the best way to fund this new life? Most jobs I know of wouldn't hire someone without an interview. Would it just be best to save up quite a bit before moving? |

I lived a quarter mile from the border between the two for about a year and it was the nicest neighborhood I've ever lived in. | We have really good family friends (used to be my dads boss and secretary when he started in the last company he worked for 20 years ago) and they arent rich just well off. He works for the world bank and she is a stay at home mum..... I love that place exept for the snow.
Too much snow, not enough parking. Other than that, the public transport is super close which helps. |

duh...
unless you have talked to somebody.
if you want to move somewhere, you should just do it - whether in the US or not. if you can't interview from here, you wont get anything better than dishwashing - but its something!
but dont expect much, and yes, you should save as much as you can, dork| |

Better in some parts than others. Honestly, if you're moving to Australia, I'd look into Perth. Explosive growth means room for everyone. and there is huge demand for skilled laborers over there. Plus it only rains there like 3 days a year. Gorgeous city, too. |
