That's a general rule for most offices. In any case, you should LOOK busy, whether it be having work up on one screen or what. I put a Blackbox imitator for my windows skin, which means I have 4 workspaces, and with 2 monitors, that's 8 full screens to take up. Sometimes I'll be on the internet/instant message workspace when my boss walks in, and not on my work workspaces, and he'll get on my ass for not having something up on at least one screen. |
I learned to have very good hearing. I memorized every person's footsteps, so that I knew who was walking by me by the sound of their footsteps. With that, I was able to know when to minimize my crap, and when the coast was clear...:happy2: |

I guess I’m the office narc because I ratted out a coworker of mine, but only after I gave him way too many chances to get his together.
Basically he was a lazy ass with terrible work ethic, and constantly made me look bad by completing work late and making careless mistakes that I would have to address. I was extremely direct with him and called him out anytime there was an issue even though he was my superior. Frustrated I ended up going to management, but they overlooked my complaints because my coworker was chummy with them, and he continued being a slacking POS.
At that point I took it upon myself to dig up dirt on my coworker, and by the time I was done I found out that he was regularly doing a variety of illegal things at work (I work with highly classified and confidential information) that would easily get him fired on the spot. I documented everything I found and confronted him with it, asking him if he would prefer me going to management with the information or would he like to do it himself. He broke down wretchedly sobbing because he knew he was in deep and would absolutely lose his job over this, and likely be brought up on criminal charges as well. He begged and pleaded with me not to rat him out, which I immediately said no and lashed out at him for all the extra work problems he had caused me over the last year. I actually had no intention of going forward with this, I just looking for a way to motivate him into doing his ing job! My coworker was not a bad guy, just a bad worker. So I offered this deal; he would do his job as he was suppose to do, and if he messed up even once, then I would turn his ass in regardless of the circumstances.
The guy was perfect for all of three weeks, and then went back to his lazy ass ways. I ended up ratting him out for “other” things that ended not getting him fired, but reassigned and demoted. Everyone else in my office knew it was me that ratted on him, and I’ve been getting over it every since. |

I generally don't like Narcs and don't do it myself. If your not their boss and whatever they're doing isn't effecting you then mind your own business.
I remember once a senior co-worker asked me to "take a walk", where he said that he'd seen me using the scanner (during lunch time) to scan a personal picture and that if he caught me doing it again he let my boss know, with the implication I'd get fired. Maybe my boss would have laughed at it but I wasn't going to take a chance. At least he didn't go behind my back but gees who hired him to be corporate cop of minor work infractions.
We all do personal stuff on company time like phone calls or online shopping and socializing so I can't stand ppl who think its their job evaluate your job performance. What the difference between slacking online than taking long smoking/coffee breaks? |

Didn't have anything to do with the content of the photo. It was an old family photo that a friend wanted me to restore using Photoshop. His problem was that I was using company equipment for my own private use. |

This is how it was at my old job. These 2 cunt bitches that always act like they are in power. They really aren't directly, but neither of their boss' would tell them they need to shape up. They would always side with these two bitches. |

| Why does it seem like bosses are out of touch with their subordinates? |

LoL, yeah it's like that at my work too. The ing housekeeper...HOUSEKEEPER...thinks she runs the ing place because she's tight with administrator. I've never seen the bitch do anything other than stand around out back with the HAIRDRESSER smoking cigs all damn day.
The hairdresser is a real piece of work too. She used to work in the kitchen as well, but she was gossiping about all the residents' personal business and giving MEDICAL ADVICE to people!!
These are the kind of people who have never done anything better in life, so they cling to whatever they can to give them a sense of power/respect/whatever. It's pathetic, lol. |

| That is how these two bitches are. Fat, ugly, mad at the world bitches. The worst one is the assistant to the president of the company, so there isn't any amount of that could get her fired. She has to dig her own grave. She was always taking smoke breaks like ever 1.5hrs for 20 minutes. |
