I was also thinking that now that I'm in a professional school I should make a 2nd FB that doesn't have pictures and lots of information about me so that I can keep that strictly business. But when I think about it, it'd be SO much work to re-add all the ppl I want on that FB and having 2 FB accounts is not that appealing to me.

My advise would be to only have things on your FB that you would not mind a potiential employer seeing. No matter how private you have it .. you never know what connections others may have or who could be looking at your page.
I think FB has evolved now and do agree that some people take it way too seriously.. it is a fun way to share pictures and keep in touch. |

That's what I've been trying to do lately. Every once in awhile I cut some things out that I don't think I feel I want to share, I've deleted some albums and tagged pictures.
It's hard sometimes with pictures and interests. Pictures b/c I want to share some pictures with friends, but then would I want a potential employer to see me drunk with my friends? And interests b/c it's not a surprise that our "scene" is stereotyped as being one filled with drugs and all night parties, regardless if you simply really enjoy the music. |

It's so sad that it's viewed that way, really. I've had to untag pictures, notes, wall posts because of this. My boss even asked me before I was employed what music do I like. I said "House and Techno, mainly + add in some Hip Hop." He said, " Do you party all night long with a handful of drugs?" I'm like " Uh..srsly? " "It's just a question, I used to be into this scene" :/ |

You could always get a web server for quite cheap to post your photo's on. That way you could have the directory password protected and only people you want to see it have access.
Or, you could always go the mobile route and sign up with MobileMe which gives you storage for sharing photo's and files. Though it's $100 / yr it's a brilliant service and I use it daily.
Facebook isn't your last option and definitely not the most professional for potential employers (depending on your profession of course). |

What I've resorted to doing lately is just not posting new pictures at all and if my friends that I was with that night want the pictures, I'll zip them and email them to them.
That's a good suggestion though. I'll think about it. Not posting my pictures over the past 6 months has really made me care less about posting them too. I have too many other things I have to do rather than spend time uploading pics.
Thanks for the ideas |

| Ahaha, so people have switched from boasting about the number of friends they have to boasting about the number of friends they've deleted/ignored. See the difference? Neither do I. |
