What does the business model look like for a DJ/producer who makes a living at what they do?

at least 10 years being treated like slogging it out, making no money--

if you're into producing and djing to make a living you're going wrong anyways...
1: you don't deserve to get ahead, and
2: you won't because you'll never be doing anything new...

altho if point 2 is true, just make electro house and you'll be a pro... :p

What about the person who is into producing and DJing because they love it and so the only way to do it all the time is to make it their full time job thus making some kind of living off it?

Do the producers/DJs who are successful have no business plan?

I'm sure there's a tried and true methodology for time allotted to marketing, improving their skills, producing, networking, etc. and a team of people needed to help them be successful, and a budget to manage all they need.
