I personally am offended that the icons of the Toronto house scene are being treated like ass.
Its a short sighted response to a larger problem; and I've lost a lot of respect for the people who've made this decision.
The people need to speak up & take action !!
anyone good at drawing up petitions? |

To me it seems everwhere z105 gets into a decent club they the whole club/atmosphere... |
shows how much you know about the industry. if z103 did anything, it was educate the uneducated. i think its really funny how many people here (or are in "the scene") put themselves on a pedestal because they are in the scene and know the music. we were all uneducated at one point. there is no need to hate because the hate is what could destroy us. |

true.
hell man.. i remember back in the day.. 95/96.. the Dr. Trance show saturday nights at 6pm on 103.5(which was then Hot FM, then Hits FM).. We also had Flipside and his show trippin on Energy on 107.9.
Personally i don't listen to z103.. but I know enough to at least acknowledge what kind of a roll the station played in the early days of building this scene (and more specifically the rave scene) in Toronto.
I also find is extremely gay of people that hate on it and meanwhile think that Radio One is the bees knees. Guess what Radio One is over on the other side of the pond.. it's mainstream radio.. top 40 even! LOL |

Thank you, z103.5 for introducing a lot of people to EDM.
But I probably will not go to an event with predominantly z103.5 crowd. Ugh
PS: Long live Energy 107.9 |

Upon further reflection, although these new changes at The Guv (rock in the D'luxe, mashup in The Drink) could and probably will cause some clashes in crowd, I wonder if The Guv is really pushing to start getting EDM out to the masses. I think a huge market is developing in the mainstream for EDM and "rave"-esque clubbing. People, mainly the youth generation, are getting bored of the hip-hop, emo-rock, etc from the past generation. For example, it seems like 75% of the conversation I hear with my friends outside of the scene in the past 2 weeks is about how Tiesto is coming and how excited they are for it.
I think this move could potentially bring a lot of new blood to our scene, which is a good thing.
It seems that all those whining about "the z-103" crowd are also those who whine that we don't have big festivals like the do in Europe. Do you think the 10s of thousands that go to these festivals are "in-the-know" cool dudes like all of you? Most of the people who go to European festivals and Ibiza barely know any, or none of the DJs playing. They just know that it's Ibiza, Dance Valley, Sonar, Timewarp, etc.
Also, here's a bit of a newsflash: Guvernment parties are already pretty mainstream. So sorry, but I don't think anyone would consider you "trendy", or "in-the-know" for going to The Guv. Most of the people in this category probably don't even really care about this move because they barely/rarely go The Guv anyway. |
