When the Berlin Wall fell, it didn't mean that Germany was unified - it took another year and a half for that to occur. But it opened the door to possibility, and gave hope to the notion that the future would be better than the past.
That's the kind of moment we witnessed last night. Now we will see if we can live up to that potential. |

I'm surprised you didn't catch the Team America joke there. I love this place, even sarcasm is taken as the God spoken truth.
Even if McCain did not win, I am still proud that I voted, and I am still proud of my time overseas defending the rights of Americans. Just because your military doesn't believe in standing up for your rights doesn't mean you have to knock on me for doing my job. And they weren't "radheadz." I hate to tell you, but on the battlefield, if someone has a gun and is shooting at you... then they are the enemy. Even your "country" (if Canada even qualifies as one...) refuses to extradite one of your own citizens from Guantanamo bay. Christ man, give it a break.
And what do you know of my career choices? I guarantee that I make a lot more money than you do, so I obviously made some right decisions, the military paid for my bachelors and is now paying for my masters degree. Sure, I had to do some pretty difficult things but in the end, it was all worth it.
All this aside, congrats to Mr. Obama, he made history, even tho EVERY ELECTION is historic, this is a big move forward. And i felt that McCain took it very well, at least he didn't demand a recount to check for dimples and chads. |

that is funny, considering we support you guys in afghanistan and are a big presence in actually making a difference in that country, i guess you have a short memory or just are about as intelligent as most of mccain's supporters. Nato countries help when they believe the conflict is a just one, funny Iraq does not even get support from your own citizens. I guess the USA is not a country because of it??

Whilst I appreciate your service, because I certainly wouldn't want to go get shot at in either war we are fighting, Iraq is hardly a place where the US military is standing up for American's rights.

I hope for the best but...I doubt there is a place for hope or faith in politics. The last time someone REALLY tried to change the face of America , they got assasinated. JFK wanted to call out all secret societies that infiltrated and corrupted government, he also wanted to give America back their own independant currency...instead he got a bullet in the skull.
The only "change" that America saw yesterday was the change of a new face accompanied by a very well articulated speaker. I think people are getting way too excited and way ahead of themselves... |
