No. That's retarded.
But to think that it's safe to search specific terms like, "Terrorism" and "Al-Qaeda" a few times a day would be naive. |

What is your definition of safe? Because honestly, I'm a little worried about you if you're searching for al-Qaeda all day too. |

Cool, you just read the article and backed up my statement, thanks! :conf:

Google had the choice to either serve those countries either:
No Content
or
Filtered Content
They went with filtered content. What does that have anything to do with filtering in our own countries? And how does it make them the bad guy in any way? The governments who filter the content are the ones to blame (I am heavily against censorship by the way, see sig). |
You aren't helping your case, here.
They sold their soul for money. If you ask me, that warrants enough criticism for me not to use their services.
They had a chance to redeem themselves with a proposal to end censorship, but the two CEO's told the shareholders to vote it down, specifically because they would lose business in China.

Cool, you know, my statement could be enough to tap my phones without a court order for 4... wait.. *Checks the FISA amendments act of 2008* 7 days without a court order! I make phone calls to the north caucuses every month, so they should be busy!
Safe would be, not having to worry about google shipping my data to the government, much like verizon has.
Censorship with google is actually a big deal, in case none of you noticed, websites are removed daily because people either cry about it, or governments request them to be.
While Google's terms of service explains that it removes search results in response to DMCA notifications and sets forth some other situations where Google might remove search results, there is no mention of government-mandated (or -requested) removals.
Of course, we know that germany's google searches omit several websites like stormfront.org (Without any explanation why), so WHY isn't government-mandated website removals mentioned in the TOS? |
