You call it 'giftmas' when the overall happiness and joy of Christmas has nothing to do with gifts.

DURRRRRRRRR HURRR HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

You are a creature remiss of self-awareness.

And don't give me the you're missing the point, it's all of the feelings attached to exchanging material possessions line, because I know you're just ing ready to mouth-noise that to me.

Try telling everyone that it's the thought that counts this year and don't give them anything, see how joyous everything becomes.

What's wrong with loving to shop for people? Shopping does get me in the spirit but it's not the only activity that does so if I were to not shop for anyone....I'd still be full of glee..and cookies.

I HAVE gone a few years with not getting anything for anyone when I was in school and my books came before gifts. People shouldn't EXPECT gifts that way when they don't get them there is no reason to be upset or mad at the non-gift giver.

In general I'm a fairly grumpy bastard but I have a random soft spot for christmas music. None of that pop , traditional arrangements or more jim brickman-esque stuff. I don't know why but it just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, I listen to stuff like that off and on all year, though I get some really weird looks for it.

I enjoy the feeling of warmth I get from a glass of spiked egg nog. And then the laughter that ensues as I drunkenly ridicule family members. And the feeling of contentment after I shovel various baked goods and meats into my stomach.

Look, far be it from me to tell you what you can and cannot love, it's really none of my concern and I'm not trying to detract from your happiness by criticizing it. However, when you say it's not about gifts or about commercialism and that you'd much rather just ignore everyone critical of those things, you're only contributing to the shopping hysteria that makes that time of year such a ing nightmare to carry on day to day with. If you're celebrating it as a religious activity, fine, I'd just rather people keep it away from me, and that's an impossible request considering how it's ing cropdusted on us from November 1 through Dec 25.

Well yeah. I may be a bitter, selfish ingrate/bastard, but I'm not an idiot.

The act of exchanging gifts on Christmas was a scheme created by greedy merchants when feudalism reigned supreme over the poor farmers in Medieval Europe.

Capitalism has taken this one step further. Effecting marketing by the capitalist pigs has made gift-giving mandatory during the holiday season. Lexus tells you to slap a red bow on their car and give it to your wife/husband as a gift. Coca-cola tells you that their product somehow makes the holidays more traditional. Hess somehow has linked Christmas with their novelty collectible cars.

And, God help you if you don't get caught up within this capitalist scheme. Because then, you are either a "Scrooge" or just too poor to buy gifts.

Children are told, when they are young, that Santa brings them toys, which are created by his workers. He makes them toil in his 19th century style factory in the north pole, where the workers are forced to create toys all year round, for nothing but food and shelter. This is all a ploy created by the bourgeoisie which started in the late 19th century. They are telling children at a young age that hard labor in a factory is innocent, benign, and commonplace. It is conditioning our children to mindlessly work and receive wage labor.

You have all been fooled by the bourgeoisie.
