I converted one file into mp3 like 2 years ago. It took about 6 hours (googling, downloading weird software, reading directions, screwing up, starting over, etc etc) and I think the resulting mp3 was a 128 when I was finished. lol, maybe even a 96!
:D
Yeah, but that software has been discontinued. The guy that broke the encryption has not put out an update for over a year. Not to mention that he got a cease and desist letter.

yeah, apparently there were all kinds of issues just getting the album released (which happened about a week ago) but only itunes and 128 at the minute :(

Terrible.

What I did was used DJ software, played the song and re-recorded it using said software. Records in MP3. I was using Virtual DJ, a very elementary program that isn't anything special, but certainly helped me solve mysteries like this.

Well, at least you can play it on your winamp.
Actually, I was kind of adverse to downloading itunes initially, but yeah, I ended up installing the software for the same reason you are, to purchase music (don't remember what) that I just couldn't find anywhere else. Since then, I've purchased a few dozen more just because I'm too lazy to open a browser and my lil ipod thingy launches the itunes window without prompt and then I just click on store and I'm in heaven (like a mall) but I have come to appreciate the podcasts, a lot of which are free.
In other words, just do it!
:D

lol, Ben, you're like the expert witness. You should start an Ask Ben thread and have it stickied!
