Breakups

So,

My girlfriend and I broke up not yesterday, but the night before (so ~36 hours ago). When we broke up, there was obviously alot of tears and so forth. I went to sleep and woke up... All yesterday and today, I haven't really been upset about it at all. I still love her and want her back, but I pretty certain we've done the right thing and I am somehow not upset at all over it. Am I in some kind of denial or shock? In a few days am I gonna be in the dumps, or is the grieving over now?

Soz for lame relationship thread, I've just never been through a breakup with someone I loved this much. Also, any advice on getting over a breakup? I figure to just stay busy... I'm making sure I go out every night this week.

Yeah, stay busy, go out with new people, and, most importantly, disconnect yourself from the ex to the point where you won't readily know if she's dating someone else. That's the worst thing about breaking up imo, especially if you still love her.

there are few problems in this world that cannot be fixed with sport rape.

yeah make sure u dont start oversleeping all the time, thats when real depression can kick in(the the "wtf how did it come to this" type thoughts become a reality), and that will need chemical intervention+psychotherapy.

but dont feel afraid to confront your emotions, ride out and acknowledge what ur feeling in a certain moment about ur situation, dont feel like u gotta be the tough guy and bottle that up.

Excercise is great-the more the better. a Duke university study showed it to be as effective as anti d's if not more in the long term.

is this one of those on again off again relationships or are u sure its dunsky?

why did you break up?

this is very important.

Important questions. Do you know who is nailing her now? If so is he someone you knew beforehand?

we have completely different moral compasses, and it has posed too many problems. i have very strong morals and she is very free spirited. we argued at least once every week for the entire time we were together. there have been many breakup ultimatums (mostly given from me).

on my side... she has clinical depression (dependant on meds) and doesn't have her together. i mean, she has a uni degree and works 3-4 hours a week at a bead shop. her life is a bit of a shambles and it's hard to feel confident about the future when you know your partner is going to be dragging the chain. she's constantly grumpy for no apparent reason and it's hard to deal with.

on her side... i am too controlling (true) and i guess she's just not that attracted to me anymore. i'm very much the sensitive nice guy type and i think she would prefer a more brutish sort of guy. most of her ex boyfriends were the bogan trade worker types. she loves me, but that attraction isn't there as much as it should be.

best way to get over someone is to get in someone else.
