For sure.
I should really get some more music recommendations from you, we seem to have similar tastes.

Ok so here is my list with some reviews (yeah, I am a bit bored):
1. Tamlin - Spectrogram
This is for sure the best album for me this year. It's strange (or not?) that it is not from any of the "big guns" but rather an unknown producer from Sweden who just released his premier album after just a few tracks released on various compilations. This album however is close to perfection. So varied, so beautiful and in the same time psychedelic. Tracks like Release (pure madness of a track!), Pax Nostra, Contrastion, Playtime Adventure (and almost all the rest) are what I need to say "hell yeah, this is it!". You can find everything here - from suomi madness, to neo goa trance tracks and even some chill trance. Listened as a whole is a great experience! The only thing here that I didn't like is the opener which is nothing great and the 2 bonus tracks which were imo useless. Except for that, the album of the year for me! 9,5/10
2. Kino Oko - Alphabetically Divided Highway
This was the main contender for the first place. The album has the same qualities of the previous one - it is divirsed enough not to get bored. But in terms of feel, its completely different. I cant label this as prog psy but, oh well, I think its closest to that. Many, many gems here, done with heart for sure, you can just feel it. Again many favorites - Made in Satisfaction, Pure Irony, Messiah Formula, Stand by Me etc. The reason why it failed to be in the first place for me is because this album (except 2-3 tracks maybe) doesnt fit for dancing as well, not only for listening at home. Still, recommended for everyone, even non-psy fans! 9/10
3. RA - 9th
What to say? As a close follower of Suntrip Records I was waiting eagerly for this album and when it came out I was hurruing to order it as fast as I can. And was it worth... Excellent return of the old (but gold) RA/Dimension 5 style here. Perfect morning goa trance with new edge. Tracks like Time Current, Spirit Complex and Other Self are capable of making you think you are in heaven... and I am not kidding at all! However, listened as a whole it sounds rather samey and thats why it stands at the 3rd place - its not so varied as the previous 2 albums. But variation is not so much needed. The album is excellent. 8,5/10
4. Distant System - Spiral Empire
I am an ambient lover so how can I not include an ambient album here? This piece was the best ambient album this year for me. Even though it wasnt released by Ultimae Records the guy behind this project (better known as Androcell) has a style very close to the one from Ultimae. And as every Ultimae release, this never dissapoints. I even rank this higher than a lot Ultimae releases. Beautiful space atmosphere throughout, melodies that just take you out of this world, in your dreams, somewhere far. Excellent! I put it at 4th place mostly because of that its not something groundbreaking. Still awesome to listen. 8/10
5. Human Blue - Base Basket Buffet
Well, nothing ground-breaking here as well but still, its Human Blue. Nothing drastically changed in his style here - the same long build-up with morning melodies and a bpm between 140-145 which I never get tired off. Favorites here are tracks like Hide and Seek (some may say its cheesy but I like those samples very much, they fill me with joy :D ), Party Deluxe, Desert Dessert, Dragonflingz. 7,5/10
Other albums worth this year were Organix - Photosynthesis, Voice of Cod - Gone Fission, OOOD - Fourthought, Yellow Magnetic Star - Mind Soul Body and Braincell - Frequency Evolution.
Dissappointment of the year was Ticon - 2AM without any doubt. |

Yay! More Distant System love. Seriously overlooked album this year, though understandable since space ambient hasn't been hip since the mid-90s. |
