When someone tries to "reconnect" with you via internet.... (pg. 2)

about 4 years ago, I got a call from my high school's front office (I graduated in '96 mind you), saying someone from my past was seeking me out and they wanted to know if it was ok to release my contact info. I said ok and asked who it was... I didn't even recognize the girl's name (if she was hot I would have remembered).
Now, this is 8 years after I graduated but I was curious to know what the was going on. So she called me and wanted to know if I would meet her for a drink. I pretended like I totally remembered who she was and agreed because I wanted some answers. So we met up, and when I saw her I remembered who she was... just some random girl I sat next to in a yearbook class my senior year that was 2 years younger than me, and who I barely ever spoke with. She told me that she wanted to find me to tell me that she never forgot how I was nice to her when nobody else in the class would give her the time of day. WTF?
She wanted to strike up a new friendship as adults and "see where it might go" and it was just too weird to deal with. I kind of felt obligated to be nice to her since she made the point that she remembered me specifically for that, but then she started talking about how much she was into TLC's music and how when Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez died, she was devastated, went to her funeral, and mourned for like a year. That was my cue to disappear again |

why bother being fake? you can be cordial to people but not go out of your way to be there friend. |

When they go out of their way for me I kinda feel bad.
edit - Plus, I am really bad with faces and whenever ppl find me on the internet I feel so bad. It takes me so long to remember them. I never was popular but my brother kinda was and since I was his twin sister.. we kinda went hand in hand. (edit.. haha I still AM his twin sister)
more aquaintences than anything.. but I don't really give a fuk about them. Never did. |

That is totally creepy! I've reconnected with some old friends on the internet, but I don't take it personal if one of them doesn't want to talk to me. I was probably a dick to them in the first place but choose not to remember that part. |

Yes, and I have, but unfortunately the situation is complicated by the fact that the two of them grew up together and my friend cuts this kid an incredible amount of slack - so he feels like it's almost an insult to him for me to say " this other kid."
Just drama, drama, drama - and out of ing nowhere. |
Isn't it hard to avoid him, then?
I mean, even if you ignore him on Facebook, what are the odds of going to a party with your friend and bump into this guy? |

that's why i have so many god damn "friends" on myspace.
But that is why I refuse to join facebook. I was on myspace before it became a "phenomenon" (March 04..) so I was just adding anyone back then and blah blah.. |

, i totally feel you here...depending on how much this friend (connected to the ignored party) means to you and how cool he/she is and how much you think you'll be in touch with him/her in the short/mid/long term, I would make a decision to say:
"listen, (friend), if you value OUR friendship then please stop raising the (ignored party) issue, because I have my reasons and I told you them. If you feel like you are caught in the middle, I suggest that you tell him/her to 'stop whining about it because RJT feels strongly about this for now. if u want to be friends with RJT so badly, leave it to him to decide when he's ready to get over whatever's troubling him in the past'"
Maybe you've already tried this and this person is too ing stupid to understand (both friend and ignored party) and in that case, it's pretty clear what you should do ;)
MASTERBATE! :toothless |
