Which is why I love Chemistry, for the record. And Psychology. :)

Yeah I know. I even admitted that I was just playing around.

thanks for the words petran.

i have panic disorder, had it for about a year and a half now, ive been on beta blockers, [40mg propanolol 3 times a day], but i realised that hey were not working a great deal, so i went back to my doctors and he put me on citalopram [SSRI] i knew theyd take a minimum of 2 weeks to get into the system, i was also told they would make me drowsey, so i went on them even tho i didnt want to, took my first one, then went to work, and it felt like id dropped an E, but i carried on with it, then in the 2nd week, i had probably the worst week of my life, the tablets just knocked me for 6, made my panic attacks 10 times worse. so i came off them again.

then i went back onto the beta blockers. and looked into hypnotherapy @ £50 a 1 hour session [about 100 bucks], had 2 sessions of that, and that did nothing. for the last few months ive been off all medication, but im not better at all.. just learning to handle it better when an attack starts. i decided i was just gonna fight it out, but reading what you put about CBT, ive decided im gonna look into it in the new year. i'd heard about it before, but just decided not to look into it after the failure of the other psycho-treatment i tried.

also.. i drink everynight.. always have done, but now i have panic disorder, if i dont drink anything on a night, i cant relax, and am a paniccy mess, so theres only been one night in the last 18 months that ive not had any alcohol. it helps me, but at the cost of my health. you seem to know what your talkign about, so i was wondering, is there any form of medication, natural or not, that would help me stop drinking? but i dont want something that will wipe me out, or anything that ill get hooked on. i dont want to swap 1 vice for another

Propanolol huh? Interesting therapy. Propanolol is an anti-hypertensive. I guess I can see how it would help for panic attacks...but still strange.

it's commonly prescribed here for similar stuff and from my experiences of it (twice) it has absolutely no good effect, if anything it made things worse.

It works because it has lol in it Propanolol

Yeah, weird for sure. I just looked it up in my drug book and it says it's prescribed for anxiety...as an investigational use. Which obviously means there's nothing conclusive to show that it has beneficial effects for that purpose.

Propanolol helped me with anxiety.

I eventually stopped taking it with no ill effects.

Actually, what I took was metoprolol.

Same class of drug, but not the same chemical.

well tbh, i cant see or feel anything from it.. i think its more of a psychological thing, i thought if i hadnt had my tablet id feel edgey, so its all the mind.. i dont take them anymore and i dont feel any different, also i didnt notice them doing anything to me while i was taking them.. but now im past the psychological thing i.e 'i havnt had my tablet omg im gonna have a panic attack'.

but i met a cousin of mine a couple of months ago, and she married an intensive care doctor, he checked me pulse and said, 'well if your on propanolol, theyre not working at all'.

i was taking herbal tablets also, 'kalmz' i was having 1 propanolol and 2 kalmz 3 times a day, and i can honestly say they did bugger all for me

seriously mate, valium is much better. take as & when needed, and it had a placebo affect on me. i was feeling good for a couple of days without realising it'd long left my body.
