Well, this is puzzling. Pulling lyrics you subjectively view as stale from one song is like me saying Underworld is unoriginal as an artist with lyrics like "shout your love. the stars are black. the church is sweet. my skin is hot. thunder thunder lightning ahead. now i kiss you dark and long."
M.I.A. has always been best when she writes about her father and her childhood as the daughter of a guerrilla. She's good because she's lyrical AND relevant in a world where nobody gives two s about Sri Lanka.

Both of M.I.A.'s albums are great. "Paper Planes" is pretty low on my list of favorite songs from her to be honest.
In 2009, I'm looking forward to The BPA's I Think We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat. It's Norman Cook plus a ton of guest artists. The first single is "Toejam" featuring David Byrne and Dizzee Rascal.
