I've witnessed the 120Hz picture with normal DVD's, and I personally didn't like it. However, I haven't seen it work with Blu-Ray or any other Hi-Def source to really see what all the fuss is about.
EDIT: To say why I didn't like it with DVD's, was that it caught camera motion (panning, etc.) a lot more than a 60Hz TV. Making the motion almost seem 'home movie-esque'. If that makes any sense. |
I think I know what you mean. One thing I don't like about 120hz is that it makes motion blur ugly. |

yeah it totally looks like you aren't watching a dvd.. more like watching it behind the scenes type of thing.
I can imagine it gets annoying.. but some movies deserve it!:eyespop:
The lowest settings were fine enough for me. Medium and High is definitely pushing it. |

it's not a marketing gimmick.
Samsung tv's have it.
It's beyond amazing. You can watch a movie with the True Motion setting on low and it is awesome.
True motion high is a little motion sicknessy. We saw Iron Man flying on high *barf*
I dunno what it is really called. Every tv has it as something different.
This makes Blu Ray DVD's look so much more bad ass.
edit - I am sorry - it is called Motion Plus. |
Nope it is a bull tech. It is a fake 120Hz. Steer clear of this . |

I don't think it's bull tech. It makes an already amazing Blu Ray dvd look 100x better.
If u go to a best buy they will have one tv with it on. At first we thought it was full 1080p with Blu Ray but then we realized it had that Motion Plus thing.
(After our tv/blu rays didn't look half as good as the one on display.)
edit - and it is on 1080p - 120 Hz so I dunno what tech gimmick it would be? |

Directly according to Samsungs site:
"It adds frames by calculating...." = fail |

To note about the 120Hz, gimmick or not. I watched it on a Samsung that said 120Hz on a sticker that was attached to the bezel of the TV. No gimmicky name or anything like that. Just said '120Hz'. That's the only time I've ever watched a TV that claimed such a thing, so I don't know if it's for real or not, then.
EDIT: Just saw your post now, gehzumteufel. Seems to be the technology has a way's to go, before it'll actually be perfected. Also, isn't it encoded into DVD's, Blu-Ray, etc. to play the picture @ 60Hz (I.E. 60 Frames Per Second), so any 120Hz processing would be done by the TV itself. Personally, I'm not going to be on that band-wagon until the media itself demands for 120Hz. |

The "Auto Motion Plus" can be disabled. This is a software hack to create the illusion of a 120Hz tv. |

No the motion plus adds frames to ur tv.. (by calculating something) who know what?!?
But it makes look so crazy clear. Kinda like ur watching them act in front of you.
High was like.... super coked up/meth tweeker. |

| He's saying because it's not true 120Hz (as in there's software calculating and faking the technology) it's a gimmick. |

I wonder if their's a TV on the market that actually is a true 120Hz. I mean, actual panel technology that runs @ 120Hz instead of the 60Hz norm. |

Exactly. Buy a proper TV with 120Hz instead. |
