Do they pay you out for it at least? I love how in California, employers can't have a use it or lose it policy. |
the first company i've worked with in awhile. they do not pay me my leftover vacation time. :(
however, i get 3 weeks of paid vacation, so i can't complain. you win some. you lose some. :D |

Yeah, but here in Cali, NO company can have a use it or lose it policy. So they just cap vacation hours accrued. |

Yeah, that is one thing that I would have to get used to if/when I leave California. Not looking forward to that. |

Your company can get into massive trouble for that. |

I don't think so, pricegrabber did the same. You couldn't cash em out anymore, you had to use em. |

Doesn't matter. You guys need to really do your research:

My employer's vacation policy provides that if I do not use all of my annual vacation entitlement by the end of the year, that I lose the unused balance. Is this legal?
A.
No, such a provision is not legal. In California, vacation pay is another form of wages which vests as it is earned (in this context, "vests" means you are invested or endowed with rights in the wages). Accordingly, a policy that provides for the forfeiture of vacation pay that is not used by a specified date ("use it or lose it") is an illegal policy under California law and will not be recognized by the Labor Commissioner. |

| there's probably some loophole in that rule where if the main HQ is not located in california, they don't need to abide by that law. that would suck if that is true. |

Nope. If you are an employee in California, then you have your vacation forever. Period. |
