i've only seen him as Matthew Dear. i didn't dislike him, i just get bombarded from all sides by people who are so blown away by him and i always wonder if there's something i'm just not getting. :p
Jake you're right - it's not the type of music i typically go crazy over, but i do appreciate many different flavors of house & techno.
i am a disco queen at heart though.

As Dear he is really eclectic sometimes not even playing a solid beat for minutes. I think he is also fairly self indulgent and experimental so he easily loses audiences. I think a lot of has to do with him having such a huge reputation with big releases across a bunch of different aliases. So people really get into it a little more than they should especially if they've never seen him before.
I can always count on him to play at least a few good songs that I enjoy and probably don't own already. |

b4 WMC/DEMF I had only caught him as a Dear set at HPC in Tampa.. Three opened up for him and really showed him up when it came to playing to the crowd.. by the time Dear came on it was 2 hours of experimental music which really had no direction in my opinion..
At Sunday School, his set was insane.. Really changed what I thought about his sound.. Then after catching him with Elliott twice and then the Audion closing set I am thoroughly convinced the man is a genius, but every genius has the off days... :tongue2
Anyways.. I want to upload some of my pics and vids from DEMF.. Whats the best recommendation for sites to upload to? I guess I could just upload to Myspace or Facebook but I was looking for something better.. |

i was digging what him and Elliot were playing when i saw them in Chicago last year... then again i was rocked off my face so i can't really trust my own opinion, and there were a LOT of technical -ups that night.

i just use Facebook because it's easy. you should post the pic of the guy squatting down behind the decks at Old Miami! :p |
