I honestly couldn't be happier with this outcome.
There are a number of criticisms I have with Obama in his first month. But the one to which he effectively boxed in the GOP with Rush painted on their shirts was downright amazing. I don't know if he did it with deliberate intent or if it were an accident, but I doubt even Obama could have predicted how well this continues to turn out. |
Yeah whats great, it doesn't appear to be a deliberate strategy but the Republican's own making. Of course once the administration recognized what was happening they were more than happy to help the situation along.
Gibbs had it right when he pointed out a few years go there would have been a storm if any Democrat even implied they were hoping for The Decider or his policies to fail. |

I don't understand this statement... are you saying that during W's tenure, there weren't any Democrats hoping for Bush's policies to fail? :wtf: |

while i was against the iraq war, I certainly wasn't rooting for the war to fail. that would mean many american lives wasted and dollars spent for nothing. i was hoping that both bush and cheney would meet their demise, but i wasn't rooting for the failure of any policy they set forth if that failure would cause more harm to americans or our country. |

I hear you, Jerez... that is a stance held by many people. I was referring to elected officials though in that reply to josh4. |

I don't - I think there were plenty of Democrats who thought Bush's policies would fail and as such advocated alternate policies. Anybody who went so far as to hope that Bush would fail is as despicable as Rush. |

ummm....i certainly didn't want him to fail as president, but because of the policies he set forth I was not opposed to seeing his personal demise. |

Moreover, the point was if any Democrat said something like that during Bush's heyday Republicans would have castrated them for being unpatriotic. |

Seriously. If his policies had succeeded we wouldn't be in some of the situations we find ourselves today. I'd trade that for political popularity in a heartbeat. |

It did not help to have obstructionists like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi working furiously against them at every step of the way. I'm pretty sure Reid was happy to see Bush fail. |
