I have swum before during middle school and competed on a relatively good level of proficiency. I know the techniques, it's all a matter of actually going 'back' to it without much effort or shock.

Does that mean you want something harder than what I posted? :disbelief

Former competitive swimmer here as well.
The best preparation is really just to swim.
If you can't do that for some reason, running intervals will help you some on the cardiovascular aspect of the workouts. But really you just have to swim.

Texas! Who did you swim for? I attended the University of Texas training camp when I was younger. Actually provided a house for some Texas swimmers who came into Louisville for the OVC (Ohio Valley Championship).
Always excited to see other swAmmers on the internets :p

I went to that camp as well, must have been '98 or '99.
I only swam through high school, though. Kind of wanted to swim in college, but the coach seemed like an ass...
The high school I swam for was Birdville in Fort Worth, and the club team I swam for was NTAC, later called NTN.
I recall NTAC, I believe I swam against them for Lakeside in Louisville. I swam through High School also, but quit after my senior year. I could have swam in college at UofL, but decided to pursue engineering instead.
As far as the camp, I think I attended it in '98 or '99 as well. Coach Eddie Reece taught it with some of his assistants. I'll be honest, we probably met at the camp, but I'm sure our faces have since been forgotten.

I remember both of your ugly faces from that camp, and I still haven't forgiven you for leaving me out of your little love games!

Swam about 4-5 times in december for the firt time since i 'retired' about 6 years ago. Man the pain after the first time back was amazing, its incredible how much fitness I've lost since then, not to mention just re-using muscles whic don't get used often.
Great to get back in the pool after so long though. Wasn't a serious return or full-on session, it was just to see if I still enjoyed it (bloody oath I did, I'd missed it bad).
